  5. Thank you for taking the PIZZARIAS BRUTAL CHALLENGE! 
  6. In order to enjoy your playable demo of Gametek's BRUTAL
  7. PC version, please make sure you do NOT have WINDOWS running.
  8. From the DOS prompt in the \GAMETEK\BRUTAL directory, type
  9. "BRUTAL" to begin the game.
  10.  
  11. SOUND - Please insure that you have selected the correct sound
  12. card for your computer during installation. If you haven't
  13. don't worry, you can do it at any time by typing INSTALL from 
  14. within the \GAMETEK\BRUTAL dircetory.  To Exit the Demo, press
  15. "Escape."

  48. During play you can increase or decrease the speed of the game by
  49. hitting F6 through F10. Additionally F3 and F4 turn on and off bits
  50. of the parallax scrolling.

  60. OVERVIEW
  61.  
  62. Brutal is a game of cartoon Martial Arts. The 
  63. characters in Brutal each have certain traits that they 
  64. embody.  Like all heroes, these traits are their strength and 
  65. weakness. 
  66.     
  67. BACKGROUND
  68.  
  69. Every four years the Dali Lama travels the world 
  70. searching for the greatest warriors. He judges not only on 
  71. martial prowess but how far they truly possess the "warrior 
  72. spirit". Inviting them all to his peaceful island they compete 
  73. to see who is worthy to wear the belt of heaven.
  74.     
  75. Each character represents one of the paths of 
  76. wisdom.

  117. He bowed his head in contemplation. Cross legged 
  118. he looked for guidance from deep within his soul. "It is in 
  119. the nature of things that all good must come from evil and 
  120. all evil must come from good." He remembered what his old 
  121. teacher had told him. "A white painting on a white canvas is 
  122. not a painting at all." Kung Fu bunny nodded slowly at the 
  123. wisdom. 
  124.  
  125. The invitation had arrived yesterday at his temple 
  126. refuge. Hand written in the Dali Lama's own hand it asked 
  127. him to come and fight in the competition once again. Kung 
  128. Fu bunny  was torn. He had taken his vows of non violence 
  129. and yet the monastery was poor and badly needed the funds 
  130. the competition could provide. But to compete would be to 
  131. break his word to the kind monks who had taken him in and 
  132. cared for him when he arrived here injured and hungry, all 
  133. those years ago.

  135. He gazed around at the peace of this forest retreat. 
  136. Idly two butterflies meandered by oblivious to any concerns 
  137. he might have. It was their nature to fly and feed not to 
  138. ponder the world. He smiled as he struck upon the answer. 
  139. He would enter the competition and fight, if he won the 
  140. monastery would be safe for years. But he knew that was 
  141. not why he was going , he fought because it was his nature 
  142. to fight and reluctantly he realized he could never be free of 
  143. his nature.

  145. "A white painting is still a painting, to the painter." 
  146. he said aloud and smiled.
  147.  
  148. The butterflies ignored him and flew on. 
  149.

  151. WHO PLAYS KUNG FU BUNNY?
  152. You are kind and considerate. Nothing gives you 
  153. greater pleasure than seeing how you have helped another 
  154. succeed. However you have difficulty making personal 
  155. decisions and keeping them. Your desire to help others 
  156. comes from your desire for someone else to give your life 
  157. direction.

  167. Leon walked from the jet and waved to the crowd. 
  168. A cheer rose from the people gathered and garlands of 
  169. flowers were thrown in front of his footsteps. It was good 
  170. to be home.
  171.     
  172. The Limousine raced him to the royal palace where 
  173. he was greeted by the servants. His father the king was still 
  174. out hunting and would not be back for some days. 
  175. "Your highness?" A servant pushed forward a small 
  176. envelope towards Leon.
  177. He took it with a nod and opened it. After reading 
  178. the invitation he neatly folded it back into the envelope and 
  179. laid it on a small table. Moving to a window he gazed out at 
  180. the african plains beyond.
  181. "You both will be there won't you?" He spoke to 
  182. himself. 
  183. Moving to his study he opened a scrap book and 
  184. flicked through it. It was filled with clippings of his two 
  185. enemies, Tai Cheetah and Kendo Coyote.
  186. "Kendo Coyote to appear in new movie!" The 
  187. headline of the New York Informer blared.
  188. "Tai Cheetah invests in Telecommunications." The 
  189. Wall Street Journal reported.
  190. Leon pushed the book aside and stared up at the 
  191. ceiling.
  192. "I will shame you both as you shamed me." Leon 
  193. vowed to himself . For honors sake he would cross the 
  194. world and fight, but  for prides sake he would win.
  195.     
  196. WHO PLAYS LEON?
  197. You never forget a debt for right or wrong. You 
  198. stop at nothing to even up the score. Your will power is 
  199. indomitable howvere you find it difficult to focus on more 
  200. than one thing at a time.

  205. HERE ARE JUST SOME OF THE FEATURES
  206. IN THE FULL VERSION OF BRUTAL PC:

  208. Instant replay - Allows players to gloat over their 
  209. victories by watching the whole fight frame by frame at 
  210. whatever speed they desire.
  211.  
  212. Tournament system - Up to 8 People can play in a 
  213. single tournament or they can play as teams to defeat each 
  214. other.
  215.  
  216. Belt System - Players do not start off with all the 
  217. moves available to them. They must earn their belts by 
  218. defeating opponents and finally proving themselves to the 
  219. Dali Lama in the dojo.  With each new belt the character's 
  220. extra moves are made available to him.

  222. Password entry/Save game - The game stores the 
  223. characters information including his Belt level as well as his 
  224. victories and losses. Also included is the players name so 
  225. each password is individualized..
