  14. DogSaver is a slide show screen saver that will 
  15. display any BMP or JPG graphic files that you 
  16. select, accompanied by any WAV or MIDI audio 
  17. files you choose, with a dog related breed or 
  18. general care fact. You may select or deselect 
  19. images and add your dog by moving your images 
  20. to the \windows\dogsaver directory.  You may 
  21. choose the duration that the pictures appears 
  22. for, turn the sounds on or off, turn the facts 
  23. on or off, and set the sounds to play all the 
  24. way through or have a new sound accompany each 
  25. new picture. Set it up and it will play through 
  26. your list of pictures continuously.  DogSaver 
  27. offers 113 transition effects between images, 
  28. full-screen blow-up mode, password protection, 
  29. and full support of both WAV and MIDI sounds.
  30. You may add your own WAV and MIDI sounds by
  31. placing them in \windows\dogsaver.

  34. Optimal Color Settings:
  35. =======================
  36. DogSaver needs a minimum color display of 256
  37. colors.  For best results and viewing pleasure,
  38. DogSaver recommends setting your system colors 
  39. to 16 Bit (High Color) or higher.  These high 
  40. quality images look their best at settings 
  41. greater than 256 Colors as any particular photo
  42. may be actually comprised of  millions of colors.

  45. documentation for making this improvement to
  46. your system.

  48. Adjusting your Monitor:
  49. =======================
  50. When the DogSaver is running, adjust your
  51. BRIGHTNESS knob DOWN so the background color
  52. is true pitch black.  When doing so, you will
  53. notice the colors of the dog images reaching 
  54. their full potential.

  56. Next, adjust your CONTRAST knob to meet your
  57. personal preferences.

  59. Configuring Screen Saver:

  63. For Windows 3.1 ...
  64.  
  65. To use the screen saver, double-click 
  66. CONTROL PANEL, usually in the MAIN group 
  67. on your desktop. When CONTROL PANEL opens, 
  68. double-click on DESKTOP to go into the 
  69. desktop configuration screen. About halfway 
  70. down the window, select the Screen Saver Name 
  71. drop-down box. You should find DOGSAVER in the 
  72. list. Select it. Now click on the SETUP button. 
  73. In the screen saver setup, you can adjust the
  74. settings to your preferences. Click the Select
  75. Pictures for Background; then you can select 
  76. any graphic file in the \windows\dogsaver 
  77. directory and see it in the Preview Window. 
  78. Click 'Add Image'near the bottom to add the 
  79. picture to your play-list. The play-list will 
  80. display the listed pictures when the screen 
  81. saver activates. Click 'Done' when finished.
  82. There is also context sensitive help available
  83. by clicking 'Help' for assistance in theme
  84. group creation and transition effect options.

  86. Then click on Select Sounds and do the same 
  87. thing for sounds. Click 'Setup Complete'when
  88. you are finished. On the main setup screen, you
  89. can also turn the sound off. Normally, each sound
  90. will finish playing before it moves to the next 
  91. one. If you want to synchronize each sound with
  92. a particular picture, check the "New Sound Each 
  93. Picture" box. That's it. Click EXIT and try the 
  94. TEST button.

  96. You may also select or de-select transition 
  97. effects and full-screen mode on the main set-up
  98. menu.

  101. For Windows 95 & Windows NT ...
  102.  
  103. Right-click the desktop and select PROPERTIES to
  104. bring up the display panel, or click the START 
  105. button and choose Settings/Control Panel; from 
  106. there you can choose DISPLAY. With the Display 
  107. Panel open, click on the Screen Saver Tab. Select
  108. DogSaver from the drop down list of screen savers, 
  109. and click Settings to setup (SAME AS ABOVE) and 
  110. Preview to test it. Click APPLY prior to exiting.

  114. The shareware edition's actual screen saver name
  115. is "DogShare".  Images and sounds are selected 
  116. from the \windows\dogshare directory. Substitue 
  117. these terms in the descriptions above if you are 
  118. operating the shareware edition of DogSaver.
