READ ME for WSTBar 2.2 (4/29/1995)
-------------------------------------
Maintenance upgrade to correct the Finger toolbar button.
WSTBar is a MS Windows application that displays a toolbar (TOPMOST) that
holds command buttons for INTERNET applications. The toolbar is setup to
run the following applications:
Trumpet Winsock
Web Browser
E-Mail
News
FTP
Gopher
Telnet
Finger
Internet Phone
IRC (Internet Relay Chat)
The application that WSTBar runs when a command button is clicked is
user-defined. The file WSTBAR.INI hold references (disk, path and EXE name)
for your INTERNET application preferences. Once WSTBar is installed, please
edit WSTBAR.INI (located in the \WINDOWS directory) and change the disk,
path and executable name for your INTERNET applications. NOTE: In the
initial release of WSTBar, there will be a way dialog box that will allow
you to select your INTERNET applications via "point-and-click").
Installation
------------
NOTE: This application requires VBRUN300.DLL
1. Un-ZIP the contents of WSTBAR.ZIP into a temporary directory
2. Start Microsoft Windows (if not already started)
3. From the Program Manager, select the File menu and choose Run
4. Type <drive>:<path>SETUP.EXE and press ENTER. Where <drive> and <path>
is the disk drive and path where you have placed the un-zipped files.
The files required for WSTBar will be copied to a directory on your
computer (C:\WSTBAR by default), and the setup program will create a
program group for WSTBar. At this point, you MUST edit WSTBAR.INI (located
in the \WINDOWS) directory.
Setting the toolbar location
----------------------------
WSTBar allows you to set the location of the toolbar. This is accomplished
through settings in WSTBAR.INI (BarLeft, BarTop). The position is specified
in pixels. The current settings position the toolbar at the top left-hand
corner of your screen.
Selecting your applications
---------------------------
You can select the applications that WSTBar will run when the buttons on the
toolbar are clicked. Replace the path and filename of the INTERNET
applications with the path and filename of your INTERNET applications.
Using LoadOnStart
-----------------
An option to load a specific application when WSTBar is started has been
added in this release. To load a specific application when WSTBar is started,
add the application to the LoadOnStart option in WSTBAR.INI. Allowable options
for LoadOnStart are Winsock,WWW,EMail,News,FTP,Gopher,Telnet,Finger,IPhone, and
IRC. This option is blank by default.
Once you have edited WSTBAR.INI, you are ready to run WSTBar. Double click
on the WSTBar icon and the software will be loaded.
