  8. INTRODUCTION

  11. Using Outlook to import or export text files with dates formatted with 
  12. two-digit years results in some years being designated in the wrong century. 
  13.  
  14. The O98dtfix.exe file contains updated versions of file that fix this
  15. problem. The O98dtfix.exe file contains the following files:
  16.  
  17.    Transmgr.dll   Updated file (157,184 bytes)
  18.    Rm.dll         Updated file (219,136 bytes)
  19.    ReadMe.txt     Information and instructions
  20.

  28. INSTALLATION
  29. ------------

  31. To install the O98dtfix.exe file, follow these steps.
  32.  
  33. NOTE: Because there are several versions of Windows, the following steps
  34. may be different on your computer. If they are, please consult your product
  35. documentation to complete these steps.
  36.  
  37. Downloading and Expanding the O98dtfix.exe File
  38. -----------------------------------------------
  39.  
  40. 1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
  41.  
  42. 2. Download or copy the O98dtfix.exe file to an empty folder on your hard
  43.    disk.
  44.  
  45. 3. In Windows Explorer, double-click the O98dtfix.exe file to expand it.
  46.  
  47. The Transmgr.dll, Rm.dll, and ReadMe.txt files listed in the "Introduction"
  48. section are extracted.
  49.  
  50. Renaming and Replacing the Affected Files
  51. -----------------------------------------
  52.  
  53. Quit all programs so that your original Transmgr.dll and Rm.dll files 
  54. are not in use, and follow these steps to rename the file:
  55.  
  56. 1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder containing your old
  57.    Transmgr.dll and Rm.dll files. By default, this is:
  58.  
  59.       C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Convert
  60.  
  61.    If you have installed Microsoft Office in a different location, then use
  62.    that location to locate your original files. 
  63.  
  64. 2. Right-click each file, and then click Rename on the shortcut
  65.    menu.
  66.  
  67. 3. Rename the files to Transmgr.old and Rm.old and then press ENTER.

  69. Copying the New Files into the Office Folder
  70. --------------------------------------------

  72. 1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder where you expanded
  73.    O98dtfix.exe.
  74.  
  75. 2. Drag the new Transmgr.dll and Rm.dll files to the folder containing the
  76.    renamed files, Transmgr.old and Rm.old (typically C:\Program Files\
  77.    Microsoft Office\Office\Convert).
  78.  
  79. 3. In Windows Explorer, on the File menu, click Close.
  80.  
  81. 4. Click Start, and click Shut Down. Click Restart The Computer,
  82.    and then click Yes.
