  2. Network Drivers Installation Notes
  3.  
  4.     WINDOWS FOR WORKGROUPS v3.11 AND NOVELL NETWARE
  5.  
  6.  
  7. This document describes how to configure the 3C562 card for
  8. use with Windows for Workgroups v3.11 and Novell NetWare.
  9. These procedures are also described in the EtherLink III
  10. LAN+Modem PC Card User Guide, Chapter 3, Setup for Windows.
  11.  
  12. NOTE: The following instructions assume that you have not
  13.       installed any other network adapter in the machine. If you
  14.       have been using a network connection on your computer,
  15.       some of the following instructions may not apply or may
  16.       produce different results. Refer to your MIS department
  17.       or system manager for further instructions.
  18.  
  19. Before installing the network driver, you should know about the
  20. following:
  21.  
  22.       -The Frame type used in the network (802.2 is the
  23.        default).
  24.       -The name of your Novell file server.
  25.  
  26. Also, for a successful installation, you will need:
  27.  
  28.       - Novell NetWare VLM Client disks for DOS and Windows 
  29.       - 3C562 LAN+Modem card and the accompanying EtherDisk
  30.         diskette
  31.      
  32. Installation Instructions:
  33.  
  34. 1.  Boot the system in DOS. If the system starts up in windows,
  35.     close Windows and exit to DOS.
  36.  
  37. 2.  Place the Novell VLM client disk #1 in the floppy drive and
  38.     type:
  39.  
  40.         a:install <enter>
  41.  
  42. 3.  This opens the NetWare Client Installation window. Use the
  43.     arrow keys to move between fields. Verify that the
  44.     information on each line is correct.
  45.  
  46. 4.  In the field asking you to select the driver for your network
  47.     card, press Enter to see the list of support drivers. At the
  48.     bottom of the list, select OTHER DRIVERS and press <ENTER>.
  49.  
  50. 5.  At the prompt for a driver disk, put the EtherDisk in your
  51.     floppy drive, and press Enter. Select 3Com EtherLink III
  52.     + Modem PC Card Adapter v1.1 and press Enter.
  53.  
  54. 6.  Select the frame type by pressing Enter and choosing the
  55.     appropriate type from the list. After your selection is made,
  56.     press Enter again. You will not need to select an "I/O
  57.     Base", as the default is appropriate for our drivers. Press
  58.    <F10> to return to the main installation screen.
  59.  
  60. 7.  To install the driver, select line 6 from this screen and
  61.     press <ENTER>. During the installation process, you 
  62.     will be asked for specific floppy diskettes. Follow the
  63.     instructions on the screen. When the installer finishes,
  64.     press Enter.
  65.  
  66. 8.  Edit your c:\AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Add the line:
  67.  
  68.         C:\NWCLIENT\3CELCM
  69.  
  70.     to the top of the file. The first two lines of the
  71.     AUTOEXEC.BAT file should now read:
  72.  
  73.         C:\NWCLIENT\3CELCM
  74.         @CALL C:\NWCLIENT\STARTNET
  75.  
  76. 9.  Save the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and exit the editor.
  77.  
  78. 10. Reboot the system.
  79.
