This is Karen's URL Discombobulator described in Karen's
"Power Tools" Newsletter. By Karen Kenworthy ( http://www.karenware.com/ ).
This program can determine the IP address(es) associated with any valid
domain name (such as microsoft.com). It can also determine the domain
names associated with most IP addresses (if the owner of the IP
address has created the appropriate PTR records in the DNS server that
is authoritative for the IP address range). As a bonus, the program
can also generate various alternate "shrouded" URLs for any domain
name or IP address.
Installation
------------
1. Execute ptlookup-setup.exe. This is a self-extracting/auto-installing archive file.
Use
---
Run the program by double-clicking PTLookup's icon.
To determine a domain name's IP address, click once on the main window's
Lookup tab. Then enter the domain name into the Domain Name text box.
Finally, click the program's Lookup button.
To determine an IP Address's domain name, click once on the main window's
Reverse Lookup tab. Then enter the IP Address into the IP Address text box.
Finally, click the program's Lookup button.
To view an alternate "shrouded" URL for a domain name or IP Address, click
once on it's entry in the "IP Addresses found" or "Domain Names found" list.
You may then copy a shrouded URL to the Windows clipboard by clicking once on
its entry in the URLs list box, then clicking the program's Copy button.
You may cause your web browser to visit a shrouded URL by clicking once on
its entry in the URLs list box, then clicking the program's Visit button.
To view the ASCII Code table, click the ASCII tab.
To view list and descriptions of all Internet Top-Level Domains (TLDs),
click the Top-Level Domains tab.
