  3. <h3><a name="opt">Creating and changing audio samples</h3>
  4. These operations are available when you press the <b>Edit Samples</b> button from the
  5. Rhythm or Piano Roll composer screens.
  6. <br><br>
  7. <li>To create a new sample, press the <b>Add New Sample</b> button.
  8. <li>To record a new sound from the microphone into the current sample, 
  9. press the <b>Record</b> button.
  10. <li>To load an existing .WAV file into the current sample, press the <b>Import</b> button.
  11. <li>To copy a recorded sound from the clipboard into the current sample, press the <b>Paste</b> button.
  12. <li>To copy a recorded sound from the current sample to the clipboard, press the <b>Copy</b> button.
  13. <li>To hear the current sample, press the <b>Play</b> button.
  14. <li>To filter, reverse, trim, adjust the volume or pitch of the current sample, press the <b>Edit</b> button.
  15. <li>To delete the current sample, press the <b>Delete</b> button.
  16. <li>To adjust the volume or balance of this sample, relative to other samples, change the <b>Vol</b> or <b>Pan</b> control.

  18. After creating your samples, you can insert them into the rhythm track the same as any other drum sound.
  19. <br><br>
  20. There are several things you can do to increase the volume of a sample.
  21. Experiment with one or more of the following until you get the sound you want.

  23. <li>In the window brought up by <b>Create Sampled Sounds...</b> or <b>Edit Samples...</b>, set Volume all the way to the right.
  24. <li>In that same window, press the Edit... button to edit the waveform.
  25. Then, press the Louder button until it warns you that doing so would introduce distortion.
  26. <li>On the Composer page for the Rhythm track, set the volume control all the way to the right.
  27. <li>On the record page, set the volume for the rhythm track all the way to the right.
  28. <li>On the Mixer page, set the volume for Audio all the way to the right.
