  11. ===========

  13. Volumouse provides you a quick and easy way to control the sound volume
  14. on your system - simply by rolling the wheel of your wheel mouse.
  15. It allows you to define a set of rules for determining when the wheel
  16. will be used for changing the sound volume. For example: You can
  17. configure Volumouse to use your mouse wheel for volume control when the
  18. Alt key is hold down, when the left mouse button is down, when the mouse
  19. cursor is over the taskbar, and so on...
  20. When the conditions that you define are not satisfied, your mouse wheel
  21. will be used for the regular scrolling tasks, exactly as before.

  29. * 32-bit Windows operating system: Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT,
  30.   Windows 2000, or Windows XP. (Windows 95 is not supported)

  36. Installing/Removing Volumouse
  37. =============================

  39. There are 2 methods to install Volumouse on your system:
  40. * Manual Installation: (For advanced users only !)
  41.   In order to manually install Volumouse on your system, follow the
  42.   instructions below:
  43.   1. Create a new folder for Volumouse utility (Under your 'Program
  44.      Files' folder, or anywhere else you like).
  45.   2. Extract all files from the zip file (volumouse.zip) into the
  46.      new folder that you created.
  47.   3. Optionally, create a shortcut to volumouse.exe on your desktop
  48.      or under your start-menu.
  49.   4. Start using Volumouse, simply by running the executable -
  50.      volumouse.exe
  51.  
  52.   In order to remove Volumouse from your system, follow the instructions
  53.   below:
  54.   1. To ensure that Volumouse is not running in your system, Select
  55.      'Exit Completely' from the options dialog-box or from popup menu of
  56.      the taskbar icon.
  57.   2. Delete the folder that you created during the installation
  58.      process. If you failed to delete the Volumouse helper dll
  59.      (vlmshlp.dll), wait a little time (one or two minutes) to allow this
  60.      file to be released by the operating system, and then try again.
  61.   3. Optionally, delete Volumouse configuration from the Registry
  62.      under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NirSoft\Volumouse

  65. * Automatic Installation (With self-install executable)
  66.   In order to install Volumouse with self-install executable, follow the
  67.   instructions below:
  68.   1. Download and run the Volumouse self-install executable.
  69.   2. Select the desired installation settings, and click 'install'
  70.      to start installing Volumouse.
  71.   3. After installation is completed, run Volumouse from the your
  72.      start-menu.

  74.   In order to remove Volumouse that you previously installed with
  75.   ZipInstaller:
  76.   1. First, you must ensure that Volumouse is not running in your
  77.      system. In order to do that, select 'Exit Completely' from the
  78.      options dialog-box (the pink button) or from popup menu of the
  79.      taskbar icon. Wait a little time to ensure that vlmshlp.dll is
  80.      completely unloaded from the system, and then continue to the next
  81.      step.
  82.   2. Go to the Add/Remove Programs module, choose Volumouse entry,
  83.      and select to remove it from your system.

  88. Using Volumouse
  89. ===============

  91. When you run Volumouse, the main options window is displayed, in order to
  92. allow you to configure Volumouse according to your needs. You can always
  93. return again to the 'options' window by clicking on the tray icon of
  94. Volumouse.
  95. Volumouse allows you to define up to 5 different rules for determining
  96. when and how the wheel should be used to control the sound volume. When
  97. you run Volumouse in the first time, it defines for you 2 default rules:
  98. When the alt key is down and when the left mouse button is down. You can
  99. accept the default settings by pressing OK button, or change the rules
  100. list according to your preferences.

  104. Wheel Mouse Rules
  105. =================
  106.  
  107. Each rule contains 4 different fields:
  108. 1. Use the wheel for changing the volume when: This field represents
  109.    the condition of the rule. For example: if your select 'Shift key is
  110.    down', this rule will be activated only while the shift key is hold
  111.    down. You can also disable a rule by selecting 'Disabled' in this
  112.    field.
  113. 2. Component: This field determines that sound component that you want
  114.    to control with this rule. The default and the most useful component
  115.    is the 'Master Volume' of your system.
  116. 3. Channels: The default and the most useful option in this field is
  117.    'All Channels' - which means that both right and left channels are
  118.    changed to the same values. If from some reason, you want to change
  119.    only one channel separately - you can use the 'Left Channel' and
  120.    'Right Channel' options.
  121. 4. Volume Steps: The number of steps added to the sound volume for
  122.    each move of the mouse wheel. If you increase this number, the volume
  123.    will be changed faster when you scroll the wheel.

  127. Other Options

  131. * Mixer Device: The sound device that you want to use in Volumouse.
  132. * Display icon in the system tray: By default, the icon of Volumouse is
  133.   displayed in the system tray (taskbar). When you click the icon with
  134.   the left mouse button, the main options window is displayed. If from
  135.   some reason you don't want this icon to appear in your taskbar, you can
  136.   hide it by unchecking this option. When this option is unchecked, the
  137.   only way to access the options windows - is by running the executable
  138.   of Volumouse (volumouse.exe)
  139. * Load Volumouse at startup: If this option is checked, Volumouse will
  140.   be automatically loaded after you reboot your computer.
  141. * Display this window when you start Volumouse: By default, the
  142.   'Options' window is displayed each time that you run Volumouse. If you
  143.   want to avoid this, uncheck this option

  147. Translating Volumouse to the languages
  148. ======================================

  150. In order to translate Volumouse to other language, follow the
  151. instructions below:
  152. 1. Run Volumouse with /savelangfile parameter:
  153.    volumouse.exe /savelangfile
  154.    A file named volumouse_lng.ini will be created in the folder of
  155.    Volumouse utility.
  156. 2. Open the created language file in Notepad or in any other text
  157.    editor.
  158. 3. Translate all string entries to the desired language.
  159. 4. After you finish the translation, Run Volumouse, and all translated
  160.    strings will be loaded from the language file.
  161.    If you want to run Volumouse without the translation, simply rename
  162.    the language file, or move it to another folder.

  171. CD-ROM, Internet, or in any other way, as long as you don't charge
