  100. Overview
  101.  
  102. There are two phases to the installation of a driver that has been downloaded from the ATI WEB site.
  103.  
  104. The first phase occurs when you run the wme-catalyst-7-94-030917m-011434c.exe program.
  105.  
  106. This phase creates a temporary directory on the system disk and unpacks all the individual files that make up the ATI software bundle.
  107.  
  108. In the second phase the ATI SETUP program is launched from the temporary directory created in the first phase. ATI SETUP installs the software (from the temporary directory) into the operating system.
  109.  
  110. Steps
  111.  
  112. a) You must download wme-catalyst-7-94-030917m-011434c.exe and save it to a directory on your systems hard disk. 
  113. For example C:\temp is a common directory used to initially save a file into. 
  114.  
  115. b) Once you have downloaded wme-catalyst-7-94-030917m-011434c.exe,
  116. - Close all programs
  117. - Click the START button and select the RUN menu item.
  118. - Click the BROWSE button.
  119. - Browse to the directory where wme-catalyst-7-94-030917m-011434c.exe was saved.
  120. - Select wme-catalyst-7-94-030917m-011434c.exe and click OK to run the program.
  121. - Follow the instructions on the screen.

  123. ! The individual files will be unpacked and placed into a directory on your hard disk. The default path for this directory is C:\ATI\support\wme-catalyst-7-94-030917m-011434c\

  125. ! After copying the files to the hard disk the INSTALLATION program will launch.  You may choose to abort the INSTALL process at this point. (If you abort, no software will be installed into Windows.)

  130. - Start Windows.
  131. - Click the START button.
  132. - Click the RUN menu item.
  133. - Click the BROWSE button. Browse to the directory where the files were unpacked after running wme-catalyst-7-94-030917m-011434c.exe.

  135. - Select SETUP.EXE and press OK.

  142. To un-install this software;
  143. - Click START, go to SETTINGS and select CONTROL PANEL. 
  144. - Launch ADD/REMOVE programs.
  145. - Select "ATI Display Driver" and then click the ADD/REMOVE button. 
  146. - RESTART Windows.
  147.  
  148. To un-install temporary files from the DOWNLOAD bundle;
  149. - Delete the directory C:\ATI\support\wme-catalyst-7-94-030917m-011434c\
  150.  
  151. NOTE: If you unbundled the files into a different directory, simply delete that directory.

  154. F) ISSUES YOU MAY ENCOUNTER:

  156. VERSION CONFLICTS
  157.  
  158. When installing Display Drivers or Software a "Version Conflict" message may appear multiple times during the installation.
  159.  
  160. If you encounter a "VERSION CONFLICT" message while installing this display driver select the "NO" option to proceed.  
  161.  
  162. * Selecting "NO" will ensure that the components of this driver bundle will replace your existing driver components.
  163. * Selecting "YES" will result in a MIX of new and old driver components, which is undesirable 
  164.  
  165.  
  166. CONFIRM FILE REPLACE
  167.  
  168. When installing Display Drivers or Software a "Confirm File Replace" message may appear multiple times during the installation.
  169.  
  170. If you encounter a "Confirm File Replace" message while installing this display driver select the "YES" option to proceed.

  172. Selecting "YES" will ensure that all the components of this driver bundle will replace your existing driver components.
