  62. PortsLock is a firewall that offers user-level access controls for Windows
  63. NT/2000/XP. It integrates with the Windows user authentication system and once
  64. installed, administrators can assign permissions to TCP/IP connections, just as
  65. they would in managing permissions on an NTFS partition of a hard disk.
  66. PortsLock lets you control which users can access what TCP/IP based protocols
  67. (HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, Telnet, etc.) on a local computer, depending on the
  68. time of day and day of the week. You can also set allowed/denied TCP/UDP ports
  69. and IP addresses for incoming and outgoing connections. PortsLock is completely
  70. transparent to users and only Windows administrators are allowed to set rules.
  71. Administrators that are familiar with IPsec, can think of this as a
  72. user-specific IPsec configuration, where user A can be allowed access to the
  73. web during business hours, but denied FTP traffic and user B can only access
  74. sites within the corporate network etc. Additional features include optional
  75. traffic auditing (per user setting), remote access and automatic deployment to
  76. remote machines.

  99. Installation

  102. To install PortsLock you MUST have administrative privileges.
  103.  
  104. Run "setup.exe". You'll need to select the target directory for the install.
  105.  
  106. If you install PortsLock on an NTFS partition, Setup protects PortsLock's
  107. directory and files by allowing only members of the Administrators group or
  108. the SYSTEM account to access PortsLock's files or to uninstall PortsLock.

  110. If you wish to install PortsLock without an user intervention you should run
  111. PortsLock Setup with the /s parameter (e.g. "c:\setup.exe /s"). This gives an
  112. install that can be used from within a batch file. There is a special
  113. configuration file for silent setup: portslock.ini. With this file, you can
  114. customize the PortsLock installation parameters. For example:

  118.       Service    - PortsLock Service and its related files will be installed
  119.       Manager    - PortsLock Manager and its related files will be installed
  120.       Documents  - documentation will be installed

  122.     To specify a destination directory for PortsLock, you can supply
  123.     the parameter InstallDir

  125.     If you have the registration key-file for PortsLock, you can specify
  126.     a directory with this file in the parameter RegFileDir
