  14. System Requirements:

  16. Versaverter is a small application, it should run under most 32Bit Windows
  17. platforms without issue. Versaverter has been tested under the following
  18. operating systems:
  19.  
  20. Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4, 2000, and XP
  21.  
  22. Versaverter requires approximately 1.5Mb of HD space (including unit data)
  23.

  25. Why No Installer?
  26.  
  27. I have fought with installshield and various other installers for many years
  28. and have decided that the bloated filesize of the installers - translating
  29. to additional net bandwidth and slower downloads, coupled with 
  30. incompatibility under various operating systems, and new corporate security
  31. filters that block installers all make installers more of a hindrance than a
  32. help.

  34. I therefore provide Versaverter as a archive to be installed manually.

  37. Instructions
  38.  
  39. 1. Download the Versaverter archive
  40.  
  41. 2. UnZip the archive to wherever you would like to keep the application and 
  42.    its data. 
  43.    NOTES: 
  44.    1. To extract the archive: Download and install WinZip if you don't
  45.       already have it from http://www.winzip.com/
  46.    2. When extracting the archive ensure paths are turned ON
  47.    
  48. 3. Run the versaverter.exe application

  51. NOTES:

  53. You may choose to create a shortcut to the Versaverter application. If you
  54. do, ensure that you specify the working directory in the shortcut as the
  55. directory where you placed Versaverter.
  56.  
  57. The first time Versaverter is started and any time you download updated unit
  58. data, Versaverter will translate the unit data from XML (a data interchange
  59. format) into it's own internal binary format - this process might take a few 
  60. minutes on slow machines but will dramatically speed up the application for
  61. all subsequent activations.
