  29.      This is not a problem for NT, but Windows 95 does not save console
  30.  application properties. You can solve this problem in the following
  31.  way: create a batch file FAR.BAT and run FAR.EXE from it. Windows 95
  32.  saves batch file properties, so it is most universal and easy way.

  37.      Under Windows 95 it is performed in the same way as with DOS
  38. applications, so your DOS keyboard driver must be loaded (a Windows
  39. standard, or any other).

  41.      Switching languages under Windows NT is similar to other Windows
  42. (not DOS!) applications and requires Windows support for the desired
  43. language to be installed.

  46. [3]  Why FAR does not accept Windows 95 clipboard pasting

  48.      If you wish to use Windows 95 Paste function within FAR,
  49. uncheck the "Fast pasting" option in the FAR properties.
  50. Do not forget that in most cases FAR can paste text itself,
  51. using Shift-Ins key and copy using Ctrl-Ins or screen grabber (Alt-Ins).

  56.      Use Ctrl-Up and Ctrl-Down to change panels height.

  62. command from "Options" menu and increase width of time or
  63. date and time columns by 1.

  68.      Similar to the previous item, but the width must be increased by 3.
  69. Moreover, if you are using NTFS file system and wish to see milliseconds,
  70. this can be achieved by increasing time column width by 7. Of course, after
  71. such an operation may be necessary to correct other columns types
  72. and widths to fit all information in the screen.

  77.      Select desired panel view mode using "File panel modes" command
  78. from "Options" menu and select "Show folders in uppercase". Read online
  79. help to get description of other options of this dialog.

  84.      Use Ctrl-Left and Ctrl-Right when the command line is empty to change
  85. panels width proportions.

  87.      "File panel modes" command from "Options" menu allows you to modify
  88. or completely change view mode settings. For example, to create 4 file
  89. name columns enter column types N,N,N,N and column widths 0,0,0,0.

  95.      You can do it with Ctrl-2 and Ctrl-3. Ctrl-1 switches disk types
  96. displaying, Ctrl-4 - file system, Ctrl-5 - total and free disk size,
  97. Ctrl-6 - displaying of removable disks information, Ctrl-7 - displaying
  98. plugin commands. Using Del in this dialog you can unmap network drives.

  103.      Windows implementation of Win32 console applications screen
  104. output is not too fast...

  109.      Restart the transfer and select "Resume" choice in the "File already
  110. exists..." prompt.  This feature is correctly supported by only
  111. a part of FTP servers.

  114. [12] Is it secure enough to save FTP passwords
  115.  
  116.      Definitely no! Passwords are stored in the registry and slightly
  117. encrypted, but FAR sends them to the server in plain text, so they
  118. can be decrypted within the local FTP server. Also passwords can be used
  119. even without decrypting.

  121.      Do not store your FTP passwords if somebody else has access
  122. to your registry information. Enter them directly before connection.

  127.      Press F3 on the folder name. If you need the sizes of several
  128. folders, select all of them before pressing F3.

  133.      Press Ctrl-PgDn on the SFX name.

  138.      To process archives, the archive support plugin calls external tools.
  139. Archiver commands, switches and behaviour may vary from each archiver
  140. version.  Enable the "Do not hide archivers output" option in the
  141. archive support plugin configuration dialog and look for archiver
  142. error messages to identify invalid switches.  You may edit archive
  143. command lines using the "Archive support: command lines" item
  144. of "Plugins configuration" menu.  Read online help before editing to get
  145. special variables description.

  147.      Another problem is long file names support by archiver.
  148. If you have a choice you should use an archiver version, which supports
  149. long file names. For example, use console RAR for Win32 instead
  150. of RAR for DOS.

  166.      Such problem really exists with programs leaving TSR part
  167.      in memory. To fix it add NTCMDPROMPT command to config.nt.

  172.      These options were moved to keyboard macros.  To install them
  173.      enter to Addons\Macros folder, press Shift-Enter on Esc.reg
  174.      and Del.reg and restart FAR.

  178.      If you work in fullscreen mode, do not use high intensity
  179.      background colors (colors 9 - 16, from "dark gray" to "white")
  180.      in FAR palette. Win32 console API does not provide acceptable
  181.      ways to restore high intensity background mode after switching
  182.      to blinking by external program.

  186.      Windows 2000 uses value 300 as the default console height.
  187.      It is too large to be used with FAR, so you need to change it.

  190.      the screen buffer height to 25, press Enter and select
  191.      "Save properties for future windows with same title".
