  21. WS_FTP LE and WS_FTP Pro Versions
  22. =================================
  23. The WS_FTP "classic" user interface is available as both WS_FTP Pro 
  24. and WS_FTP Limited Edition (LE). WS_FTP LE is a shareware version of 
  25. WS_FTP that is made available free to non-commercial users. Read the 
  26. WS_FTP LE license for information about free use of the LE version.

  28. Note: The help file documents the WS_FTP Pro version, so if you are 
  29. using the LE version, you will not have some of the features documented.

  31. WS_FTP Pro offers the following features not found in the LE version:
  32. ╖ You can choose between the "Classic" interface, which is similar to 
  33.   the WS_FTP LE interface, and the "Explorer" interface, which 
  34.   integrates with Windows Explorer.
  35. ╖ Technical support is available for WS_FTP Pro.
  36. ╖ You can use folders to manage your FTP sites.
  37. ╖ You can do remote-to-remote transfers.
  38. ╖ Includes WS_FTP Pro Utilities to manage files and automate transfers:
  39.     WS_FTP Find Utility -- lets users search an FTP site for files that 
  40.     match the userÆs criteria.
  41.     WS_FTP Scripting Utility - automates the transfer and management of 
  42.     files by letting you create scripts that use basic FTP commands.
  43.     WS_FTP Synchronize Utility - allows you to "mirror" folders and 
  44.     directories between your PC and a remote FTP server.
  45. ╖ You can perform multiple file transfers using WS_FTP Pro commands 
  46.   from a DOS prompt.
  47. ╖ You can use the WS_FTP Pro Development Kit (available separately) to 
  48.   write custom file transfer applications to automate regular uploads

  54. Installation
  55. ============
  56. To install WS_FTP LE, double-click the file you downloaded, accepting 
  57.     the defaults, and following the prompts on your screen.

  59. To install WS_FTP LE from a disk:
  60.   - Insert the WS_FTP LE disk into a disk drive.
  61.   - If you are running Windows 95, 98, or NT 4.0 or later, 
  62.     click the Start button and select Run. If you are running 
  63.     Windows NT 3.51, select Run from the File menu.
  64.   - Enter the drive letter followed by WS_FTPLE.exe. 
  65.     For example, a:WS_FTPLE.exe.
  66.   - Choose WS_FTP Installation, when asked.
  67.   - Follow the instructions on your screen.

  83. Uninstalling
  84. ============
  85. The uninstall function removes all files associated with 
  86.     WS_FTP LE from your PC, including your configured sites.

  89. To uninstall WS_FTP LE, you can use the Uninstall application 
  90.     that is installed with the product. To do so, click 
  91.     the Start button, select WS_FTP LE, and then select 
  92.     WS_FTP LE Uninstall.

  94. To uninstall WS_FTP LE using the original disk:
  95.   - If you are running Windows 95, 98, or NT 4.0 or later, click the 
  96.     Start button and select Run. If you are running Windows NT 3.51, 
  97.     select Run from the File menu.
  98.   - Enter the appropriate drive letter (and path) followed by 
  99.     install.exe. For example, a:install.exe.
  100.   - Choose WS_FTP LE Uninstall, when asked.
  101.   - Follow the on-screen instructions.

  104. Year 2000 Compliance
  105. ====================
  106.   WS_FTP LE 5.05 is Year 2000 compliant, meaning that neither performance
  107.   nor functionality are affected by dates prior to, during, and after

  112. WS_FTP LE Description
  113. =====================
  114.   WS_FTP LE is a Windows-based file transfer client 
  115.   application that transfers files between a userÆs local PC and 
  116.   another, remote computer system connected via a modem and telephone
  117.   lines or by a local-area network. With WS_FTP LE, users can connect
  118.   to any remote system that has a valid Internet address and an FTP 
  119.   server program, browse through directories and files, and transfer 
  120.   files between the two systems. In addition, users can create, change,
  121.   and remove directories and view, execute, rename, or delete files.

  123.   WS_FTP LE complies with the Windows sockets (Winsock) standard, 
  124.   allowing you to transfer files between a wide variety of systems, 
  125.   including Windows, OS/2, and UNIX systems.
