  25. X-SETUP LICENSING

  27.  X-Setup is licenced to you either as freeware or
  28.  shareware, depending on the enviroment is is used. 
  29.  
  30.  Please read the enclosed LICENSE.TXT carefully or

  33.  In short: It's 100% Freeware for home user and
  34.  charity/non-profit organisations, but shareware
  35.  for commercial institutions.

  38. INSTALLING OR UPDATING XTEQ X-SETUP
  39.  
  40.  To install Xteq X-Setup, extract all files from the 
  41.  archive to a directory and start SETUP.EXE. After 
  42.  Setup has finished, this directory can be deleted.
  43.  
  44.  If you already have Xteq X-Setup installed, you can
  45.  install this new version into the same path as the 
  46.  previous version.

  49. GENERAL NOTICES ABOUT INSTALLING OR UPDATING X-SETUP
  50.  
  51.  - Xteq X-Setup does NOT contain any backdoor 
  52.    software: it *IS NOT* ad-based or spyware-enabled! 
  53.    Your privacy *IS NOT* at risk by using Xteq X-Setup!
  54.  
  55.  - Xteq X-Setup does not intereference with any other 
  56.    system utility nor does it change any configuration
  57.    by just installing it (except adding some harmless 
  58.    empty lines to MSDOS.SYS on W9x/ME machines which
  59.    the OS just ignores). Therefore, you can always 
  60.    install it and give it a try.

  62.  - In some very rare cases, Anti-Virus software can 
  63.    cause X-Setup to crash (GPFing). In this case, 
  64.    please disable your Anti-Virus software before 
  65.    starting SETUP.EXE or using X-Setup. Especially,
  66.    Norton AntiVirus seems to crash X-Setup. We 
  67.    suggest using the products from TrendMicro, see
  68.    http://www.antivirus.com/

  70.  - If you have deactivated your Anti-Virus software
  71.    and Setup still shows a GPF ("SETUP caused 
  72.    an invalid page fault in...") some of your system
  73.    components are badly damaged. You might try to 
  74.    install the latest Internet Explorer from 
  75.    Microsoft which sometimes is able to fix the 
  76.    problem. If IE's setup also displays a GPF, the 
  77.    best solution is, sorry to say, FORMAT C:\.

  80. UNINSTALLING XTEQ X-SETUP
  81.  
  82.  To remove Xteq X-Setup, use Start -> Settings ->
  83.  Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. If the Control
  84.  Panel is opened while you are uninstalling X-Setup,
  85.  Setup can't remove the icon inside Control Panel
  86.  because it's locked. If this happens, just close
  87.  Control Panel, search for "XQXSetup.cpl" and delete
  88.  it.

  90.  PLEASE NOTE THAT UNINSTALLING X-SETUP DOES *NOT*
  91.  REVERT ANY CHANGES YOU HAVE MADE USING X-SETUP !!

  94. REQUIRED COMPONENTS
  95.  
  96.  Xteq X-Setup requires the Microsoft Scripting Engine 
  97.  (MSE) to work properly - this component is included 
  98.  by default in Windows 98 and upwards.

  103.  Beside this, HTML Help is needed as X-Setup does use
  104.  a CHM file for its help system - HTML Help is included
  105.  in Internet Explorer 3.0 or above.

  110.  X-Setup will check for the availability of both 
  111.  components before it starts and displays an error 
  112.  message if they are missing.

  117.  Due to the huge success of Xteq X-Setup, we are 
  118.  bombed with hundreds of email per day. Because of 
  119.  this and as X-SETUP is mostly freeware, we can no

  136. OPERATION SYSTEMS SHORT CUTS
  137.  
  138.  Because Xteq X-Setup runs on all Windows 32bit OSes,
  139.  short cuts (e.g. XP) are normally used instead of
  140.  the full name of the operation system (Windows XP)
  141.  because this saves a lot of space inside the UI.
  142.  
  143.  95 = Windows 95 
  144.  98 = Windows 98
  145.  9x = Windows 95 or 98
  146.  NT = Windows NT 4.0
  147.  ME = Windows ME
  148.  2K = Windows 2000
