  3. HyperSnap-DX 4 is a screen capture tool for Win 
  4. 9x, ME, 2000 and NT.  Captures screens from 
  5. standard desktop programs and hard-to-grab 
  6. DirectX/Direct3D, 3Dfx Voodoo and Glide mode 
  7. games.  HyperSnap-DX 4 even snags frames from 
  8. many DVD players and other video software.  The 
  9. program can auto-scroll and concurrently capture 
  10. long web pages and other documents, enabling it 
  11. to grab more than is visible on the screen.  The 
  12. program integrates with the Windows clipboard, 
  13. and has new painting and editing features, too.  
  14. Version 4.x contains many new or improved 
  15. features requested by our users.  These include 
  16. improved handling of 3dfx 32 bit color mode 
  17. screens, a completely new set of color and image 
  18. manipulation tools, improved printing, tight 
  19. integration with the Windows system tray, new 
  20. painting tools added to the button palette, the 
  21. ability to set the Windows wallpaper, "send by 
  22. e-mail" feature within the program that lets you 
  23. send captures across the Internet, and a 
  24. comprehensive help system that provides 
  25. context-sensitive "pop-up" help for virtually 
  26. every aspect of the program.

  28. HyperSnap-DX ver.  4 is distributed on "try 
  29. before you buy" principle.  If used without a 
  30. license, it will add Hyperionics stamp to images

  38. 2001.04.17 - ver. 4.02.00

  40. New game capture code to snap games that use
  41. DirectInput technology in "exclusive mode" - these
  42. games could not be captured previously.
  43. Modify the capture code to always capture 24 bits
  44. per pixel bitmap, if the screen was in 16 bpp 
  45. "high color" mode. Due to some limitations in
  46. Windows bitmap format, this provides both better
  47. color fidelity, and better compatibility with older
  48. programs that import graphics.
  49. Fixed - HS-DX 4 would sometimes appear to hang
  50. if you were trying to capture a window with 
  51. auto-scroll, and auto-scrolling of this window
  52. was not possible.
  53. Fixed - "invert black and white" for 256 color
  54. bitmaps did not work correctly, for example -
  55. copy and paste it to MS-Word, the image was still
  56. without the inversion.
  57. Plugged a small GDI resource leak in Region and
  58. Multi-Region captures modes.

  62. Two bugs found and fixed:
  63. - Copy to clipboard, if the image was using 
  64. palettes, would result in incorrect color when
  65. pasted to other applications, that prefer to 
  66. paste DIB format.
  67. - Saving to TIFF files with PACKBIT compression
  68. would result in incorrect files.

  72. Fixed - "best fit" option for printing would not
  73. work, if printing without opening Page Setup.
  74. Fixed - image resolution value would be ignored
  75. in copy operations.
  76. Fixed - automatic paste to MS Word 2000 would not
  77. work, at least under Windows 2000.
  78. Modified the way file names are incremented (numbers
  79. added to them) in Quick Save. Previously the first
  80. group of digits in the file name would be 
  81. incremented, so you would get names like 01-01,
  82. 02-01, 03-01 etc. Now the names will be 01-01,
  83. 01-02, 01-03 etc. There will be no change if only
  84. one group of digits is in the file name, or no
  85. digits at all.
  86. Fixed the issue of HyperSnap-DX taking away window
  87. focus when started hidden or with -snap command
  88. line option (previously -snap:awin would not work
  89. correctly).
  90. Added -exit command to make HyperSnap exit after
  91. some operations requested from the command line.
  92. Fixed "Quick Save" operation to also work for
  93. -snap command line options, including file name
  94. increments.

  98. Fixes to timed capture, not to display errors when
  99. "continue on error" option is selected.
  100. Fixed not to display unnecessary "could not 
  101. register hot keys" message upon startup in some

  108. Some more small fixes to timed "quick save" when
  109. used with "special capture" function (games and
  110. DVD) - previously it would behave strange in this
  111. scenario, trying to snap both the game/DVD image,
  112. and Windows desktop at the same time. Fixed.

  116. Fixed timed auto-capture - previously would not
  117. execute "Quick Crop and Scale" operations except
  118. for the very first capture.

  122. Corrected bug in licensing code, introduced in v.
  123. 4.01.05 - would crash HyperSnap-DX program when
  124. trying to enter a new license. I'm very sorry

  129. HyperSnap-DX will now remember the size of a "new"
  130. image, which you set with "Resize" button on the
  131. drawing toolbar.
  132. Added saving and restoring of pen width and color,
  133. and eraser width upon exit/restart of the program.
  134. Added -ra command line parameter, to restore 
  135. "advanced" options when the program is restarted.
  136. These "advanced" options currently include "Capture
  137. Settings" - "Crop & Scale" enable mode, and "View
  138. & Edit" selection. Normally restoring these options
  139. in other than their default state could confuse
  140. beginner users of HyperSnap-DX, so we use this
  141. command line argument to prevent this confusion.

  145. Fixed - saving 8 bpp images (e.g. GIF) would again
  146. give blue tint to grey color.
  147. Fixed - right mouse click during capture would not
  148. work on Windows NT 4.
  149. Fixed - the delay time for capture was not saved
  150. when HS-DX 4 was exited and restarted.

  154. Fixed - "Pan Last Region" would increase the size
  155. by one pixel each time it was invoked.
  156. Fixed - scale image, then edit/copy - uses incorrect

  158. the size of previous selection).
  159. Fixed auto-scroll in 32 bit color mode, which would
  160. not work on some machines.
  161. Fixed - now will not restore HS-DX window after a 
  162. cancelled capture.
  163. Fixed a crash on some old ATI graphics card in
  164. Region capture or Crop, when zoom area was displayed.
  165. Fixed - if using quick save with quick print, and
  166. printing the file name with %file% or %path% macro,
  167. the previous file name would be printed.
  168. Fixed wrong text (FileBX license) on the "License"
  169. dialog box.

  174. The "Change" button under "Quick Save" tab
  175. of "Capture Settings" would sometimes become
  176. disabled
  177. Command lines parameter correction:

  179. would save a GIF file named "snap.bmp", now it
  180. will correctly change extension to make 
  181. "snap.gif" 
  182. The -open:filename command line parameter may be
  183. now also spelled:

  185. which seems to be more logical.
