Version 00.1.1
Minor changes pertaining to filename scrambling in Decrypt.exe.
Version 99.12.1
Changed filename scrambling method to make it password unique.
Version 99.10.1
Slightly modified encryption method to make it even more secure.
Version 99.09.1
Added feature to make Explorer more accurately reflect status of hidden
folders. Other minor changes.
Version 99.05.1
Switched over to a 32-bit version of MAGIC.EXE and INSTALL.EXE. Minor
changes.
Version 99.02a
Occasionally some EXE files in encrypted folders would not run, even tho
they'd work fine if moved outside the encrypted folder. That has been
fixed. In addition, primarily in Win98 and on faster machines, we were
getting reports of EMF locking up when initially encrypting a folder
(when you initially add it to your hidden/encrypted folder list). This
too has been fixed. Other minor cosmetic and functional changes.
Version 98.10a
Minor cosmetic changes.
Version 98.08a
EMF would allow the renaming of an encrypted folder into a non-encrypted
folder. This resulted in the non-encrypted folder containing encrypted
files since only the folder name was changed. Now EMF denies the rename
and Explorer compensates by copying the files instead, which works
correctly because EMF decrypts each file as it is copied. There were
other renaming issues as well that have been resolved.
Version 98.03a
An error was corrected where if a program attempted to read from a file
of 0 bytes and Win95 didn't generate an error (its documentation says
it should, but apparently it doesn't on all systems) then the possibility
existed that the file might be encrypted incorrectly. If you have any
files that you are unable to decrypt we can write a program to recover
them, but so far only 2 people have noticed the problem and both had
backups.
Version 98.02a
Can now hide/encrypt system and hidden folders - new Install program -
options of refreshing Desktop and Explorer when status of hidden folders
changes - can change hot-key - can create replacement KeyDisk - better
Help with "Find" feature - other minor functional and cosmetic changes.
Version 97.10a contains minor cosmetic and functional changes over
version 97.09a
Version 97.09a of Encrypted Magic Folders differs from the previous
version (97.06b) in the following ways:
A new filename scrambling method has been implemented. The old method
kept the unscrambled filenames in a file. But no matter how well we
protected them, files are files, and as such are subject to bad sectors,
crosslinks, bad drives, etc., that could impede the unscrambling of
filenames. The new method does not use files to store the unscrambled
filenames.
This new version also lets you enable or disable filename scrambling for
each encrypted folder. In previous versons either all your encrypted
folders had filename scrambling enabled, or none of them did.
Other minor enhancements were also made.
