  4. pstotext 1.8g - PostScript text extractor.  Requires Ghostscript.

  6. The files pstotxt1.dll (Win16), pstotxt2.dll (OS/2) pstotxt3.dll (Win32), and
  7. pstotext.zip (sources) constitute the pstotext package, which was written by
  8. Paul McJones and Andrew Birrell of Digital Equipment Corporation's Systems
  9. Research Center.  These files are copyright by Digital Equipment Corporation. 
  10. You may use them subject to the attached END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT.

  13. distribution, or directly from the authors:

  25. pstotext was developed as a part of the Virtual Paper system, which is
  26. a high-quality viewer for computer-generated or scanned documents.

  40. Version 1.8g is a modification of the original 1.8 to allow 
  41. operation with Aladdin Ghostscript 6.0, to add -output to 
  42. Windows and OS/2 executables, and to insert line breaks
  43. and form feeds is pstotext output.  Modifications made 
  44. 2000-07-15 by Russell Lang at Ghostgum Software Pty Ltd.

  47.                       END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT

  50. GRANT.  Subject to the provisions contained herein, Digital Equipment
  51. Corporation ("Digital") hereby grants you a non-exclusive license to
  52. use its accompanying proprietary software product and associated
  53. documentation ("Software") free of charge pursuant to the terms and
  54. conditions of this Agreement.
  55.  
  56. You are not entitled to support or telephone assistance in connection
  57. with your use of the Software.
  58.  
  59. SOFTWARE AND DOCUMENTATION.  Digital shall furnish the Software to you
  60. electronically or on media in source code form.  This license does not
  61. grant you any right to any enhancement or update to the Software and
  62. Documentation.
  63.  
  64. USE RESTRICTIONS.  You may use, copy, modify, and distribute the
  65. Software in source code or object code form, subject to the following
  66. conditions:
  67.  
  68.         (1) If the Software is modified, any Software containing
  69. modifications must prominently state in the modified product or
  70. documentation (i) that it has been modified, (ii) the identity of the
  71. person or entity that made the modifications, and (iii) the date the
  72. modifications were made.

  74.         (2) Each copy of the Software made by you shall be subject to
  75. the terms of this Agreement and shall contain all of Digital's notices
  76. regarding copyrights, trademarks and other proprietary rights as
  77. contained in the Software originally provided to you.

  79.         (3) The Software may not be transferred to any third party
  80. unless such third party receives a copy of this Agreement and agrees
  81. to be bound by all of its terms and conditions.

  83. TITLE.  Title, ownership rights, and intellectual property rights in
  84. and to the Software shall remain in Digital and/or its suppliers. The
  85. Software is protected by the copyright laws of the United States and
  86. international copyright treaties.
  87.  
  88. CONTENT.  Title, ownership rights, and intellectual property rights in
  89. and to the content accessed through the Software is the property of
  90. the applicable content owner and may be protected by applicable
  91. copyright or other law.  This License gives you no rights to such
  92. content.
  93.  
  94. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY.  Since the Software is provided free of
  95. charge, the Software is provided on an "AS IS" basis, without warranty
  96. of any kind, including without limitation the warranties of
  97. merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and
  98. non-infringement.  The entire risk as to the quality and performance
  99. of the Software is borne by you.  Should the Software prove defective,
  100. you, and not Digital assume the entire cost of any service and repair.
  101. This disclaimer of warranty constitutes an essential part of the
  102. agreement.
  103.  
  104. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY.  UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES AND UNDER NO LEGAL
  105. THEORY, TORT, CONTRACT, OR OTHERWISE, SHALL DIGITAL OR ITS SUPPLIERS
  106. RESELLERS, OR LICENSEES BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY OTHER PERSON FOR ANY
  107. DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY
  108. CHARACTER INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF GOODWILL,
  109. STOPPAGE, COMPUTER FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION, OR ANY AND ALL OTHER
  110. COMMERCIAL DAMAGES OR LOSSES, EVEN IF DIGITAL SHALL HAVE BEEN INFORMED
  111. OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY OTHER
  112. PARTY.
  113.  
  114. EXPORT CONTROLS.  You may not download or otherwise export or reexport
  115. the Software or any underlying information or technology except in
  116. full compliance with all United States and other applicable laws and
  117. regulations.  By downloading or using the Software, you are agreeing
  118. to the foregoing.
  119.  
  120. TERMINATION.  This Agreement shall automatically terminate upon
  121. failure by you to comply with its terms, in which case you shall
  122. immediately discontinue the use of the Software and shall within ten
  123. (10) days return to Digital or destroy all copies of the Software.
  124. You may also terminate this Agreement at any time by destroying the
  125. Software and all copies thereof.
  126.  
  127. MISCELLANEOUS.  This Agreement represents the complete and exclusive
  128. statement of the agreements concerning this license between the
  129. parties.  It may be amended only by a writing executed by both
  130. parties.  If any provision of this Agreement is held to be
  131. unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be reformed only to
  132. the extent necessary to make it enforceable, and such decision shall
  133. not affect the enforceability (i) of such provision under other
  134. circumstances or (ii) of the remaining provisions hereof under all
  135. circumstances.  Headings shall not be considered in interpreting this
  136. Agreement.  This Agreement shall be governed by and construed under
  137. the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, except as governed by
  138. Federal law.  This Agreement will not be governed by the United
  139. Nations Convention of Contracts for the International Sale of Goods,
  140. the application of which is hereby expressly excluded.
  141.  
  142. U.S. Government Restricted Rights.  Use, duplication or disclosure by
  143. the Government is subject to restrictions set forth in subparagraphs
  144. (a) through (d) of the Commercial Computer-Restricted Rights clause at
  145. FAR 52 227-19 when applicable, or in subparagraph (c) (1) (ii) of the
  146. Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause at DFARS
  147. 252.227-7013, and in similar clauses in the NASA FAR Supplement.
