LView Pro is an excellent image viewing, editing and cataloging package.
For viewing images, LView loads files quickly into multiple windows and allows you to easily zoom in and out. There are a wide variety of image editing, painting, filtering and retouching tools, including: crop, redimension, resize, add text, rotate, color balance, color replace, airbrush, gamma correct, color enhance, blur, soften, dilate, change color depth, transform, create drop shadow, add borders, and much more. A handy "macro retouch" command lets you combine several retouching commands and apply them to an image area.
Other features include: the ability to interactively transform selections (floating or non-floating) and paths (whole, selected sub-paths or path points), support for multi-layered images, the ability to paint with "picture brushes", the ability to overlay images with calendars, support for creating animated GIF files, advanced color matching, undo and redo operations, advanced image selection tools, image cataloging, slideshow creation tools, pen and tool paths, floating toolbars, full palette and color channel control, an airbrush tool, OLE2 and TWAIN support, and a Windows Explorer-style interface with drag and drop capabilities, file management functions, and image previewing.
A Web Gallery Builder lets you publish picture collections on the Web. Features of the Web Gallery Builder include: automatic generation of index pages and individual image pages, full control over HTML page and table generation, automatically generated background images, the ability to include textual descriptions for each page, and optional display effects such as buttonize, seamless pattern, and variable opacity.
Also included is a Contact Sheet Builder, along with a Slide Show Viewer, and a Photo Package Builder.
The program supports many popular bitmapped image formats, including BMP, DIB, GIF, JPG, JFIF, PCX, PPM, PGM, PBM, TGA and TIFF. It also has its own proprietary format for saving multi-layer images.
This latest release includes the ability to layer an unlimited number of objects, the ability to create objects from shapes, lines, text, and paths, and the ability to create custom shape objects using the Shape Editor. A complete list of what's new can be found here
