The Microsoft« Windows Media Player 7 team has put together a set of utilities called PowerToys. So what are PowerToys? These are add-ons and other utilities that enhance Windows Media Player 7. We think advanced power users will get as much of a kick out of using our new PowerToys set as our developers did building them. Of course, PowerToys aren't supported, so Microsoft Technical Support won't be able to answer any questions about them. But give them a whirl! The PowerToys download set allows users to install all of the available PowerToys at once. These toys include: Deluxe CD Data Converter -- This PowerToy copies information collected by the Deluxe CD Player in the Windows« 98 Plus Pack or the Microsoft CD Player in Windows 2000 into your Windows Media Player database. This tool is particularly useful if you've downloaded or edited information from a large number of CDs using the Deluxe CD Player. Power Skin -- This PowerToy is a Windows Media Player 7 skin. It provides many different ways to manipulate and use your Windows Media Player 7 media library. You can automatically create playlist compilations by artist, by album, or even create ordered playlists for burning to an audio CD. Most Recently Used Cleaner -- This PowerToy clears the Most Recently Used files list in Windows Media Player 7. This is the list you see on the bottom of the File menu that displays your most recently viewed content. Note You will need to close Windows Media Player 7 before running this PowerToy. (The Windows Media Player 7 is only avaliable for Windows 98/2000; hence, this PowerToys set is only for Windows 98/2000.)
