  8. Overview

  11. With this program, you may be able to increase the clock speeds that the 
  12. Matrox display driver uses with your Matrox graphics card. Increasing 
  13. clock speeds may increase display performance. 
  14.  
  15. Supported operating systems:  Windows 95/98
  16. Supported graphics cards:     Matrox G400-based graphics cards
  17.                               (including Millennium G400 MAX cards)
  18.  
  19. WARNING: With this program, you may be able to select settings that your 
  20. graphics card doesn't fully support. If unsupported settings are applied, 
  21. your display may become garbled or unusable.

  23. Note: We recommend that only advanced users use this program. Matrox doesn't
  24. provide additional customer support for this program.

  27. Installation
  28. ============

  30. To install, run the "setup" program included with this program.
  31.  
  32. Note: This program doesn't work with certain Matrox display drivers. 
  33. Specifically, this program doesn't work with Matrox display drivers that 
  34. are WHQL (Microsoft) certified.

  37. Usage
  38. =====

  40. To use this program, click the Matrox Tweak Utility icon on your Windows taskbar
  41. -- a menu appears. To quickly open the main Matrox Tweak Utility dialog box, 
  42. you can double-click the icon.

  44. With the main Matrox Tweak Utility dialog box, you can enable or disable advanced 
  45. display driver options that aren't available in Matrox PowerDesk software. 
  46. Also, you can change your graphics card clock speeds for each display 
  47. resolution.

  49. When you apply a clock speed change, you're prompted to accept the change. If 
  50. your display doesn't appear okay (for example, pixels aren't properly drawn on
  51. the screen or your display is unusable), click "No" or simply wait 15 seconds 
  52. to restore your previous settings.

  54. If your display doesn't appear okay with a higher clock speed setting,
  55. that setting may be too high for your graphics card and you should try a 
  56. lower clock speed. Your graphics card may be capable of different maximum 
  57. clock speeds for different display resolutions.
  58.  
  59. Note: If unsupported settings are applied, your display may become garbled 
  60. or unusable only after using these settings for a while. Problems are more 
  61. likely to appear while using 3D programs.

  64. Troubleshooting
  65. ===============
  66.  
  67. If your display becomes garbled or unusable immediately after new settings
  68. are applied, wait 15 seconds for your display to be restored. If your display 
  69. isn't restored:
  70.  
  71. (1) Press [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del] TWICE to restart your computer. If that doesn't
  72.     work, press the reset button on your computer.
  73.  
  74. (2) BEFORE Windows starts, press [F8] for the Windows startup menu to appear. 
  75.     (With Windows 98, if [F8] doesnÆt work, instead try pressing and holding 
  76.     [Ctrl] before Windows starts.)
  77.  
  78. (3) Select the number for "safe mode", then press [Enter].
  79.  
  80. (4) Double-click the Matrox Tweak Utility icon on your Windows taskbar.
  81.  
  82. (5) When prompted, click "Yes" to remove Matrox Tweak Utility settings.

  84. (6) Restart your computer normally.
