Welcome to NoteTab Light!
The ultimate free Notepad replacement and a capable HTML editor.

If you are reading this file from your new NoteTab program, open the file
Readme.otl to quickly discover some of its most original features. If you are
not familiar with technical terms, you will find help by viewing the
Glossary.otl file. See the WhatsNew.txt file for information on the most recent
changes made to the program. Tip: put the cursor on any of these file names and
hit the F7 function key to open it immediately.

1. Introduction
---------------
NoteTab Light is the ultimate free Notepad replacement and a capable HTML
editor. A slimmer version of the award-winning NoteTab Pro, this slick
application makes text editing a breeze. Move quickly around a stack of large
files with a simple tabbed interface. Format your text to your heart's content.
Write with the font of your choice, fixed-width or proportional.

If you need to cut and paste chunks from a pile of files, forget the Clipboard:
you can set up a Paste Board file to save text clips automatically. Strip HTML
tags from your files. Call up complete document statistics instantly. Use
powerful, system-wide search and replace tools.

Speed up your work with text macros: you can use them as shortcuts, or even to
auto-replace those persistent typos. Handy sample macro libraries are supplied,
and you can easily build your own. Make the most of NoteTab's many options to
suit your own workstyle.

2. Installation
---------------
You can install this release over a previous copy if you want to keep all your
settings. Just extract the Setup.exe file from the .zip package and execute it.

How to Uninstall
................
You can uninstall NoteTab by using the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs
dialog box or the Uninstall NoteTab icon in the Start menu. Note that this will
delete your program settings. If you want to save your settings, you should
make a copy of the .ini file prior to uninstalling.

IMPORTANT - WINDOWS NT USERS: If NoteTab was installed with Administrative
privileges, you should then also uninstall NoteTab under these conditions.
Otherwise, NoteTab might not be completely removed from your system.

5. Distribution License

Provided that you verify that you are distributing the most recent version of
NoteTab Light, you are hereby licensed to make as many copies of the NoteTab
Light package as you wish; give exact copies of the original NoteTab Light
package to anyone; and distribute the NoteTab Light package in its unmodified
form via electronic means (Internet, BBS's, Shareware distribution libraries,
CD-ROMs, etc.). You may charge a distribution fee for the package, but you must
not represent in any way that you are selling the software itself.

7. Year 2000 Compliancy
-----------------------
All versions of NoteTab are Year 2000 compliant (Y2K). These products are
designed to be used prior to, during, and after calendar year 2000 A.D., and
during each such time period will accurately receive, provide, and process
data/time data (including, but not limited to, calculating, comparing, and
sequencing) from, into, and between the twentieth and twenty-first centuries,
including the years 1999 and 2000, and leap year calculations, and will not
malfunction, cease to function, or provide invalid or incorrect results as a
result of data/time data, to the extent that other information technology used
in combination with NoteTab properly exchanges data/time data with it.
