  4. pstotext 1.8g - PostScript text extractor.  Requires Ghostscript.

  6. The files pstotxt1.dll (Win16), pstotxt2.dll (OS/2) pstotxt3.dll (Win32), and
  7. pstotext.zip (sources) constitute the pstotext package, which was written by
  8. Paul McJones and Andrew Birrell of Digital Equipment Corporation's Systems
  9. Research Center.  These files are copyright by Digital Equipment Corporation. 
  10. You may use them subject to the attached END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT.

  13. distribution, or directly from the authors:

  25. pstotext was developed as a part of the Virtual Paper system, which is
  26. a high-quality viewer for computer-generated or scanned documents.

  49. GRANT.  Subject to the provisions contained herein, Digital Equipment
  50. Corporation ("Digital") hereby grants you a non-exclusive license to
  51. use its accompanying proprietary software product and associated
  52. documentation ("Software") free of charge pursuant to the terms and
  53. conditions of this Agreement.
  54.  
  55. You are not entitled to support or telephone assistance in connection
  56. with your use of the Software.
  57.  
  58. SOFTWARE AND DOCUMENTATION.  Digital shall furnish the Software to you
  59. electronically or on media in source code form.  This license does not
  60. grant you any right to any enhancement or update to the Software and
  61. Documentation.
  62.  
  63. USE RESTRICTIONS.  You may use, copy, modify, and distribute the
  64. Software in source code or object code form, subject to the following
  65. conditions:
  66.  
  67.         (1) If the Software is modified, any Software containing
  68. modifications must prominently state in the modified product or
  69. documentation (i) that it has been modified, (ii) the identity of the
  70. person or entity that made the modifications, and (iii) the date the
  71. modifications were made.

  73.         (2) Each copy of the Software made by you shall be subject to
  74. the terms of this Agreement and shall contain all of Digital's notices
  75. regarding copyrights, trademarks and other proprietary rights as
  76. contained in the Software originally provided to you.

  78.         (3) The Software may not be transferred to any third party
  79. unless such third party receives a copy of this Agreement and agrees
  80. to be bound by all of its terms and conditions.

  82. TITLE.  Title, ownership rights, and intellectual property rights in
  83. and to the Software shall remain in Digital and/or its suppliers. The
  84. Software is protected by the copyright laws of the United States and
  85. international copyright treaties.
  86.  
  87. CONTENT.  Title, ownership rights, and intellectual property rights in
  88. and to the content accessed through the Software is the property of
  89. the applicable content owner and may be protected by applicable
  90. copyright or other law.  This License gives you no rights to such
  91. content.
  92.  
  93. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY.  Since the Software is provided free of
  94. charge, the Software is provided on an "AS IS" basis, without warranty
  95. of any kind, including without limitation the warranties of
  96. merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and
  97. non-infringement.  The entire risk as to the quality and performance
  98. of the Software is borne by you.  Should the Software prove defective,
  99. you, and not Digital assume the entire cost of any service and repair.
  100. This disclaimer of warranty constitutes an essential part of the
  101. agreement.
  102.  
  103. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY.  UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES AND UNDER NO LEGAL
  104. THEORY, TORT, CONTRACT, OR OTHERWISE, SHALL DIGITAL OR ITS SUPPLIERS
  105. RESELLERS, OR LICENSEES BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY OTHER PERSON FOR ANY
  106. DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY
  107. CHARACTER INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF GOODWILL,
  108. STOPPAGE, COMPUTER FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION, OR ANY AND ALL OTHER
  109. COMMERCIAL DAMAGES OR LOSSES, EVEN IF DIGITAL SHALL HAVE BEEN INFORMED
  110. OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY OTHER
  111. PARTY.
  112.  
  113. EXPORT CONTROLS.  You may not download or otherwise export or reexport
  114. the Software or any underlying information or technology except in
  115. full compliance with all United States and other applicable laws and
  116. regulations.  By downloading or using the Software, you are agreeing
  117. to the foregoing.
  118.  
  119. TERMINATION.  This Agreement shall automatically terminate upon
  120. failure by you to comply with its terms, in which case you shall
  121. immediately discontinue the use of the Software and shall within ten
  122. (10) days return to Digital or destroy all copies of the Software.
  123. You may also terminate this Agreement at any time by destroying the
  124. Software and all copies thereof.
  125.  
  126. MISCELLANEOUS.  This Agreement represents the complete and exclusive
  127. statement of the agreements concerning this license between the
  128. parties.  It may be amended only by a writing executed by both
  129. parties.  If any provision of this Agreement is held to be
  130. unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be reformed only to
  131. the extent necessary to make it enforceable, and such decision shall
  132. not affect the enforceability (i) of such provision under other
  133. circumstances or (ii) of the remaining provisions hereof under all
  134. circumstances.  Headings shall not be considered in interpreting this
  135. Agreement.  This Agreement shall be governed by and construed under
  136. the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, except as governed by
  137. Federal law.  This Agreement will not be governed by the United
  138. Nations Convention of Contracts for the International Sale of Goods,
  139. the application of which is hereby expressly excluded.
  140.  
  141. U.S. Government Restricted Rights.  Use, duplication or disclosure by
  142. the Government is subject to restrictions set forth in subparagraphs
  143. (a) through (d) of the Commercial Computer-Restricted Rights clause at
  144. FAR 52 227-19 when applicable, or in subparagraph (c) (1) (ii) of the
  145. Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause at DFARS
  146. 252.227-7013, and in similar clauses in the NASA FAR Supplement.
