  1. Task Force COMMANDER Free Demo Instructions:
  2. --------------------------------------------
  3. This Demo will run on all versions of Windows 
  4. including Windows 95.
  5.  
  6. TFCDEMIN.ZIP - is a compressed file ZIP file that 
  7.            contains all necessary application program 
  8.            and sample image files in order to setup 
  9.            and run Task Force COMMANDER from your
  10.            Windows environment.
  11.  
  12. Note:     You must have a copy of PKUNZIP.EXE 
  13.     to uncompress this file.  It may
  14.     be download as Freeware compliments
  15.     of PKWare Inc. if you do not already
  16.     have it.
  17.            
  18. Step 1. Create a temporary directory of your choice
  19.     and copy TFCDEMIN.ZIP into that directory.
  20.     For the purpose of these instructions lets
  21.     assume you will create a directory named MYTEMP
  22.     on your C: drive.
  23. Step 2. Execute TFCDEMIN.ZIP by clicking on it from 
  24.     your File Manager or Windows Explorer and
  25.     all required files will be inflated into C:\MYTEMP.
  26. Step 3. Click File Run from the Program Manager or 
  27.     Start Run (Windows 95) and enter "C:\MYTEMP\SETUP.EXE
  28. Step 4. Follow further instructions on screen to 
  29.     complete the program installation to your
  30.     Windows environment.

  32. Note:   Assuming you've installed the Task Force COMMANDER
  33.     application to a directory other than C:\MYTEMP
  34.     then you may want to free up disk space by deleting
  35.     C:\MYTEMP and all files residing within as they 
  36.     will no longer be required.

  38. HINTS:
  39.     If you are a Windows 95 user then make sure
  40.     your Taskbar is set to "Autohide" or you
  41.     may not be seeing the icons on the very
  42.     bottom of your screen.
  43.  
  44.     To set the taskbar to Autohide:
  45.     1. Click on "Start"
  46.     2. Click on "Settings"
  47.     3. Click on "Taskbar..."
  48.     4. Click the checkmark on beside "Autohide"
  49.  
  50. TROUBLESHOOTING:
  51.  
  52. Here are 3 of the most common problems:
  53.  
  54.     PROBLEM A.
  55.     If you get any error message relating to THREED.VBX
  56.     when installing the application then follow 
  57.         the instructions below:
  58.  
  59.     1. Using File manager or Explorer locate all occurences
  60.        of THREED.VBX on your hard drive and rename them to 
  61.        THREED.BAK.
  62.        In some instances you may have to exit Windows and
  63.        rename in DOS mode.
  64.     2. Exit Windows completely if you have not already done so.
  65.     3. Go back into Windows 
  66.     4. Install the Task Force Demo again (File+Run Setup.exe)
  67.     5. Problem should be solved if you followed the instructions.

  69.     PROBLEM B.
  70.     If you get any error message stating that a specific 
  71.     file with a .DLL extension is in use then simply click the
  72.     IGNORE button and the installation will continue without
  73.     any problem.
  74.  
  75.     PROBLEM C.
  76.     If you are getting a GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT when
  77.     clicking on an image for the first time then this
  78.     means a video driver conflict exists.  To rectify 
  79.     the problem follow the instructions below:
  80.     1. Open the Task Force COMMANDER Demo application
  81.        but DO NOT click on any image.
  82.     2. Click on the "Options" menu item and click 
  83.        on "Disable Drag/Drop" so that a check mark
  84.        appears beside it.
  85.     3. Now you can safely click on any image without
  86.        the GPF occuring.
  87.         
  88.     Note: Drag and drop is a feature that lets you click
  89.           on an image and while holding down the left
  90.           mouse button, drag it over and drop it on top
  91.           of an icon (located down extreme right and left)
  92.           in order to perform a function.  
  93.           
  94.           If you have followed the instructions above
  95.           then your Drag and Drag is disabled in order
  96.           to prevent the GPF error, however, this feature
  97.           is simply a bell and whistle.  Clicking any
  98.               of these icons initiates the same function with
  99.           respect to the currently highlighted image.
