SmartDraw (32-bit) is a powerful but easy-to-use drawing package for creating flowcharts, organization charts, fishbone diagrams, network diagrams, timelines, business presentations, and other diagrams.
SmartDraw's ease of use makes it particularly suitable for users who need to create professional quality drawings quickly and simply, without having to invest time in learning to use a complex application.
It includes hundreds of pre-drawn shapes and symbols that you simply drag onto your drawing. With automatic formatting you can create professional diagrams. Shapes and lines automatically line up using SmartDraw's snap-to grid and other alignment tools. Lines and curves that connect shapes together stay connected, even when you move the shapes. With automatic text resizing your text automatically shrinks or grows to fill your shapes.
You can draw huge diagrams (up to 50 x 50 inches with thousands of symbols per drawing). SmartDraw is an OLE client, so you can transfer drawings to your word processor and other programs (for example, Microsoft Office, Word Perfect, Lotus, etc.). The "attach" feature lets you link any file (even a Web page or a program) to any SmartDraw image.
It supports rich text editing so it is great for presentations. You can choose from a library of color schemes and shadow styles. Images can be imported or exported in WMF, BMP, PCX, GIF, JPG or TIFF formats. The GIF files can be exported with options for interlacing and transparent background colors for use with WWW pages.
SmartDraw also includes a Table Designer that lets you create business forms, data tables, timelines, and shapes with multiple text-entry fields. You can easily edit the tables by dragging and dropping rows and columns.
SmartDraw lets you open drawings created by other flowcharting programs including Visio, MicroGrafx Flowcharter, EasyFlow, Flowcharter PDQ, and others.
SmartDraw is designed so that users can begin working immediately, without having to read any documentation. It includes built-in hints, tooltips, on-line help, and a drag and drop drawing interface.
Limitations in downloadable version:
It is fully functional for 30 days, and includes 600 symbols (1500 included in the retail version). After 30 days, you cannot save files. All the files created during the evaluation period are preserved and can be opened with the retail version.
