  25. What's in the distribution?
  26. =======================================================================
  27. This distribution contains Voodoo3 Beta drivers and control panel for 
  28. Windows 95/98. The DirectDraw portion of the drivers supports Direct3D 
  29. when using DirectX 7.0

  31. NOTE: DirectX 7.0 redistributable files should be used with these 
  32. drivers!

  38. Requirements

  41. - Windows 95/98
  42. - PC with a Pentium, Pentium II, or Pentium Pro Processor and a free 
  43.   AGP or PCI slot
  44. - 16MB of RAM
  45.  
  46. Fresh Installation 
  47. ------------------

  49. NOTE: Complete Steps 1 and 2 before removing your existing 2D card.
  50.  
  51. 1) Extract the files for the Voodoo3 driver to a directory.
  52. 2) Before removing your existing 2D card switch the video driver to 
  53.    Standard VGA. Click Start, Control Panel. Double-click on Display.
  54.  
  55.    Select 640X480 and 16 colors.  Accept the changes.
  56.  
  57. 3) Power off the system and remove your existing 2D card.
  58. 4) Install the Voodoo3 Card in a free AGP or PCI Slot
  59. 5) Power on the system and verify that video appears during post.
  60. 6) Start Windows in Normal mode
  61.  
  62.   (Once Windows starts you may be notified that no video device
  63.    exists, click Cancel if this message appears)

  65. 7) Go to the directory where you put the Voodoo3 driver, run the executable
  66.    file.  Click SETUP.  At the welcome screen of 3dfx Tools,
  67.    select NEXT.  Click on YES when prompt to install Voodoo3 Driver.
  68. 8) Follow instruction on the screen to install Voodoo3 Driver and 3dfx Tools
  69.    Control Panel.
  70. 9) Select 'Yes, I want to restart my computer now' when prompted.
  71. 10) Install DirectX 7.0.

  74. Upgrade Existing Voodoo3 Drivers

  77. 1) Start Windows 95/98
  78. 2) Extract the files for the Voodoo3 driver to a directory.
  79. 3) Go to the directory where you put the Voodoo3 driver, run the executable
  80.    file.  Click SETUP.  At the welcome screen of 3dfx Tools,

  88. Limitations

  91. Running 640x480 16 Color will run SUPERVGA.DRV or VGA.DRV.  No Voodoo3 
  92. features will be used.  Switch to a different resolution or color depth.
  93. Full windowed hardware acceleration with this version of the drivers is 
  94. only possible when running at 16bpp modes.

  101. Problem: After installing the card, the system still detects my old 
  102. card even though it is no longer in the system.
