SiSoft Sandra is an excellent Windows 95/98 system information and diagnostic utility.
Sandra stands for System ANalyser, Diagnostic, and Reporting Assistant. It comes with 49 modules that provide detailed information about your hardware, software and other devices. Sandra reports information about your CPU and BIOS, PCI and AGP Buses, video, DirectX, keyboard, mouse, sound card, MCI devices, joystick, printers, DOS and Windows memory, DOS and Windows subsystem, fonts, Winsock, drives, ports (serial and parallel), remote access service (RAS) connections, and processes (tasks and threads).
It also provides performance enhancing tips along with benchmarks for your CPU, CPU multimedia (including MMX, 3DNow! and SSE), drives, CD-ROM and DVD, and memory.
It shows you details about hardware interrupts, software interrupts, hardware registry settings, and environment settings.
Reports can be displayed, saved, printed and faxed. Report formats include: SMS, HTML, RPT and text.
The level of detail is similar to that found in commercial programs like Norton SI and Quarterdeck WinProbe.
With this latest release, you can now save and print tips using the Tune-Up Wizard. Reports can now be generated in XML, which makes it easy to import into other programs. A variety of bugs have been fixed, support has been added for additional hardware, and a few enhancements have been made which cover Windows 98 SE (Second Edition).
Limitations in downloadable version:
50 modules are included in the shareware version, 20 additional modules are included in the registered version.
