OVERVIEW:
DesktopShield 2000 will secure your PC while when you are not using it. Anyone wishing to tamper with your computer or look at your data will be locked out. Just double-click on the program icon in the system tray to instantly lock your desktop.
When you enable the program, the taskbar is removed from view and task switching key combinations (Ctrl-Alt-Del, Ctrl-Esc and Alt-Tab) are disabled. You can automatically load the program when Windows starts, hide your desktop altogether, and log access attempts to a disk. In addition, you can password-protect your settings
If you want to protect your computer, whether from curious eyes, hackers, or children, or if you have sensitive information, this program is for you.

DESKTOPSHIELD 2000 FEATURES
Upgrade wizard : This feature checks the internet to see if more recent version is available for download. Suggested usage is once per month.
Use single mouse click : This option allows you to start DesktopShield with one mouse click. By default, this option is uncheck.
Use current desktop wallpaper : This option allows to show the current destkop wallpaper. By default, a blank screen is shown.
Note : This option is available only if the option " show virtual desktop " is checked.
Protect settings with a password : This option protects the DesktopShield 2000 settings by password. The password is the same that the user initially chooses in the user profile.
Use messenger: Allows to leave a message to the user
Remove Logos on system properties : Normally a "protected by DesktopShield 2000" logo is shown in the 'My Computer' - properties screen.
If you do not want this logo to be seen, then click on this button to have it removed. It will be permanently removed unless you reinstall DesktopShield 2000 again

SECURITY FEATURES
Automatically load DesktopShield 2000 at startup : Once the computer has been locked, this option automatically restarts DesktopShield 2000 at windows startup after a reboot.
Lock computer at startup : This option automatically locks desktop at windows start.
Automatically load QuickStart at startup : This option adds an icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of the screen). To execute DesktopShield 2000 simply double-click (or single click if you use " use single mouse click " option) on this icon. The right click allows customization of the options.
Show virtual desktop : This option replaces the current desktop with a virtual desktop window, thus protecting data.
Note : You can use, your current desktop wallpaper.
Log access attempts in a file : This option logs all unsuccessful access attempts in a separate file once the computer has been locked.
Function keys available: Uncheck this option to disable the various function keys that modify the boot process, such as F5 and F8.
Note : This option works only with the option " lock computer at startup " The function keys are automatically disabled when the computer is locked.

YEAR 2000 COMPLIANCE SOFTWARE:
For many computer, the year 2000 will bring a host of problems related to software programs that record the year using only the last two digits.
DesktopShield 2000 is Year 2000 (Y2K) Compliant software. It will not produce errors in processing date data in connection with the year change from December 31, 1999 to January 1, 2000
