  25. What's in the distribution?
  26. =======================================================================
  27. This distribution contains Velocity 100/200 drivers, control panel for 
  28. Windows 95/98. The DirectDraw portion of the drivers supports Direct3D 
  29. when using DirectX 6.0

  31. NOTE: DirectX 6.0 redistributable files should be used with these 
  32. drivers!

  38. Requirements

  41. - Windows 95/98
  42. - PC with a Intel, AMD, Cyrix, or other compatible processor and a free 
  43.   AGP or PCI slot
  44. - 16MB of RAM
  45.  
  46. Fresh Installation 
  47. ------------------

  49. NOTE: Complete Steps 1 and 2 before removing your existing 2D card.
  50.  
  51. 1) Copy the files for the Velocity 100/200 driver to a directory.
  52. 2) Before removing your existing 2D card switch the video driver to 
  53.    Standard VGA. Click Start, Control Panel. Double-click on Display.

  55.    Select 640X480 and 16 colors.  Accept the changes.
  56.  
  57. 3) Power off the system and remove your existing 2D card.
  58. 4) Install the Velocity 100/200 Card in a free AGP or PCI Slot
  59. 5) Power on the system and verify that video appears during post.
  60. 6) Start Windows in Normal mode
  61.  
  62.   (Once Windows starts you may be notified that no video device
  63.    exists, click Cancel if this message appears)
  64.  
  65. 7) Go to the directory where you put the Velocity 100/200 driver, run 
  66.    the executable file v3w9x-retail.exe.  Click SETUP.  At the welcome 
  67.    screen of 3dfx Tools, select NEXT.  Click on YES when prompt to 
  68.    install Velocity 100/200 Driver.
  69. 8) Follow instruction on the screen to install Velocity 100/200 Driver 
  70.    and 3dfx Tools Control Panel.
  71. 9) Select 'Yes, I want to restart my computer now' when prompted.
  72. 10) Install DirectX 6.0.

  75. Upgrade Existing Velocity 100/200 Drivers

  78. 1) Start Windows 95/98
  79. 2) Extract the files for the Velocity 100/200 driver to a directory.
  80. 3) Go to the directory where you put the Velocity 100/200 driver, run 
  81.    the executable file v3w9x-retail.exe.  Click SETUP.  At the welcome 
  82.    screen of 3dfx Tools, select NEXT.  Click on YES when prompt to 
  83.    install Velocity 100/200 Driver.
  84. 4) Follow instruction on the screen to install Velocity 100/200 Driver 
  85.    and 3dfx Tools Control Panel.
  86. 5) Select 'Yes, I want to restart my computer now' when prompted.

  90. Limitations

  93. Running 640x480 16 Color will run SUPERVGA.DRV or VGA.DRV.  
  94. No Velocity 100/200 features will be used.  Switch to a different 
  95. resolution or color depth.  Full windowed hardware acceleration with 
  96. this version of the drivers is only possible when running at 16bpp modes.

  103. Problem: After installing the card, the system still detects my old 
  104. card even though it is no longer in the system.
