  5. This is a short help file to help you get started, all necessary information
  6. about how to use PostMaster you will find in the Help file within postmaster.

  11. PostMaster v1.4 is registered by Tropical Software, and Mark Jesiel, 1993.

  15. The Business, Personal, and custom buttons are all there for you to setup
  16. PostMaster to print on the size envelope of your choosing.
  17.  
  18. The open and save buttons allow you to open address files for addresses you
  19. have previously saved, and the save button allows you to save these addresses
  20. for future use.  A very useful feature unique to postmaster is that in the
  21. open dialog box, whichever address file you have selected, that address
  22. will be displayed in a window below the 'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons so you
  23. don't have to remember the filenames for all your addresses.  The address
  24. displayed in the window will be posted in the address window of the main 
  25. postmaster window when you click 'OK'.

  27. The Print button does exactly that, Prints your envelope using the default
  28. printer.

  30. The Help button brings up the main PostMaster help system.  This file
  31. contains all the information you will need to make PostMaster productive
  32. for you.

  34. The about button brings up the 'About' window, showing you the current
  35. version you are using.

  37. The Quit button quits postmaster without having to select close from the
  38. control button in the upper left corner.

  40. The Options button brings up a menu window with some seldom used functions.

  42.     Change return address font-Changes the font used to display and
  43.     print the return address.  The display limit is 14 point, yet
  44.     the printed output will use the size you selected.  Also for
  45.     printer fonts, that can't be displayed, the display font will
  46.     not change, yet the printed output will.

  48.     Change address font-Changes the font the address is displayed
  49.     and printed in.  Subject to the same rules as for return address
  50.     fonts as detailed above.

  52.     Open return address-Allows you to open an .ENV file for use as
  53.     your return address.
  54.  
  55.     Save return address-Allows you to save a return address to disk 
  56.     for future use as either a return address, or address.
  57.  
  58.     Print Postnet Barcodes-Allows you to turn Postnet Barcoding On or Off.
  59.     This will print a USPS Postnet Barcode on your envelopes for faster
  60.     mail sorting, and faster delivery, and in some cases discounts to
  61.     businesses on bulk mailings.  See the Write file, or on-line Help
  62.     for more information.

  64.     Printer Setup-Allows you to configure PostMaster for use with
  65.     either a Laser or Dot Matrix Printer.  If you choose 'Laser' you will
  66.     also have to select the feed position.  The choices are Left, Center
  67.     or Right feed. Center feed is the default.    You only need to set this 
  68.     once, unless you want to change it or you delete your INI file.

  70.     Print Logo-Allows you to print a logo in the upper left corner of your
  71.     envelope.  Double click the Logo box to select your logo.  See the on-line
  72.     help for more important information concerning Logo printing.

  74.         Mailing List-Opens the mailing list window, and lets you set up any
  75.     number of 'lists' containing as many addresses as you want.  You
  76.     may then save your list for later use.  In printing a full mailing list
  77.     of envelopes, PostMaster takes the return address, and all font
  78.     information from the main window, then will load your list, and print
  79.     all the envelopes for that list with the push of one button.

  81.     Register-Allows you to enter the registration number you receive
  82.     from Tropical Software.  This will change the program to be a
  83.     registered copy and get rid of the 'remember to register'
  84.     reminders.

  90. When you first run PostMaster it will create a file called POST.INI
  91. This file contains information that postmaster uses upon startup.  If
  92. you accidentally delete this file, don't worry.  The next time you run
  93. PostMaster it will create a new INI file.  You will however have to
  94. re-enter your registration number.  DO NOT LOSE your registration number.
  95. DO NOT attempt to alter the INI file, if you do PostMaster may not run 
  96. properly.  If you do accidentally alter the INI file, then delete the
  97. corrupt file, and run PostMaster to create a new INI file.  You will 
  98. have to re-enter you registration number.

  106. address, telephone number, and Compuserve ID number.  I will send you via
  107. Compuserve mail a personal registration number, and keep your inf. on file
