  1.            CHARSET DECODING v1.04
  2.   WELCOME
  3.  
  4.   "Charset Decoding" is a set of add-ins for Microsoft (r)
  5. Office (Microsoft (r) Excel, Microsoft (r) Word, Microsoft
  6. (r) PowerPoint).
  7.  
  8.   If you speak several languages and you have Microsoft(r)
  9. Office on your desktop this software was designed for you.
  10.  
  11.   Microsoft (r) Office tools usually can display text in the
  12. language in which it was written.  However, some
  13. texts of the documents can be unreadable.  Particularly
  14. those are from your international respondents, which have
  15. localized versions of Microsoft (r) Windows and/or
  16. Microsoft (r) Office.
  17.  
  18.   When this happens, you can convert the document text to
  19. the readable text with the "Charset Decoding".
  20.  
  21.   With Charset Decoding you can convert any Internet
  22. messages, DOS texts and others to readable documents also.
  23.  
  24.   Now installation includes Native Language Support (NLS)
  25. files of Macintosh character sets.  They enable support of
  26. MAC encoding for your Internet tools (not only for "Charset
  27. Decoding")!

  29.   LICENSE AGREEMENT

  31.   Charset Decoding ("the Software") is freeware.  Permission
  32. is granted to make and distribute unaltered copies of the
  33. Software.  License is further granted to use the software
  34. free of charge.

  37. INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS, LOST SALES, INJURY TO PERSON OR

  58.   INSTALLATION
  59.  
  60.   Simple run CSDECODE.EXE.  Follow screen instructions.
  61.  
  62.   Note: If you have reinstalled MSOffice (add or delete some
  63. applications) you may have reinstall "Charset Decoding"
  64. also.

  66.   DEINSTALLATION
  67.  
  68.   Go to "Control Panel \ Add/Remove program"
  69.   Select "Charset Decoding"
  70.   Press "Add/Remove"
  71.  
  72.   FEATURES

  74.   SYSTEM SUPPORT
  75.  
  76.   For convert charset encoding with "Charset Decoding" you
  77. must already have support for that language on your Windows
  78. system.  Another meaning, "Charset Decoding" supports all
  79. types of charset encoding which were installed on your
  80. computer.  Basically Window s (especially Windows 95\98)
  81. does not support of Macintosh character sets.  For that
  82. reason installation of "Charset Decoding" includes NLS files
  83. (and setup procedures) witch enable support MAC encoding.

  85.   CUSTOM CONVERSION
  86.  
  87.   On the "Tools" menu in the Office application, click
  88. "Charset decoding", then "Custom".  On the Custom conversion
  89. dialog box, choose values on the "Charset" and "Font"
  90. dropdown list boxes.  You can preview the text in the
  91. Preview area to check whether it makes sense in the encoding
  92. standard and font you selected.  Click "OK" to run "Charset
  93. Decoding".  Latest 3 cases of Charset will be stored on
  94. "Tools \ Charset Decoding" menu.

  96.   You can switch "Maintain existing format" to ON to keep
  97. document structure or switch it to OFF for faster results.
  98. Also, you can increase the speed of charset decoding by:
  99.  
  100.    - disable test for already converted characters (option
  101.    "Keep wide characters");
  102.  
  103.    - disable display changes on the monitor (option "Update
  104.    screen", with Microsoft (r) Word and Microsoft (r)
  105.    Excel);
  106.  
  107.    - disable store changes to undo (option "Can undo", only
  108.    with Microsoft (r) Excel).
  109.  
  110.   All these options will be stored to repeat the latest
  111. conversion.

  113.   REPEAT LATEST CONVERSION
  114.  
  115.   On the "Tools" menu in the Office application, click
  116. "Charset decoding", and then choose type of charset encoding
  117. you want.  To run "Charset Decoding" for whole document you
  118. have to choose no selection or empty selection (without
  119. text) of the document.

  121.   NOTE
  122.  
  123.   Some text objects of your document cannot be converted
  124. with "Charset Decoding".  There are "WordArt", "Chart" and
  125. etc.
