  27. 1)  What is ACC ?
  28.

  30. ACC is an Advanced Caller ID and Telephone Answering Machine
  31. software for voice modems. It's 32-bit application which may
  32. reside in the system taskbar tray awaiting incoming voice calls.
  33.  
  34. ACC is compatible with several Caller ID schemes: Bellcore (American
  35. Caller ID service accepted by many countries, including USA, Canada,
  36. Australia, Israel and so on, also called Calling Number Delivery service);
  37. Type II (Off-Hook) Caller ID with ID delivered after going off-hook;
  38. British Telecom (BT) CLIP; Russian ANI (Automatic Number Identification).

  40. As an answering machine the program can record messages and play them
  41. back through the modem, handset or sound card. It can also monitor
  42. conversation, feeding the sound card in real time.

  44. The software works without using TAPI.

  47. 2)  System/Hardware requirements
  48.  
  49. The program is a software application that uses a voice capable modem
  50. to handle incoming telephone calls.

  52. - IBM-compatible personal computer with Pentium or higher processor. 
  53. - Windows NT 4.0/95/98/2000
  54.   
  55.   Windows 95 and NT 4 users: you will need an updated comctl32.dll
  56.   or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or 5.

  58. - Caller ID capable voice modem connected to your telephone line
  59. - Caller ID service from your telephone company
  60. - Sound card and connected speakers recommended

  65. In order to be able to receive Caller ID information you have to
  66. subscribe to a Caller ID service from your telephone company.
  67. The following Caller ID standards supported:

  69. - Bellcore (U.S., Canada, Australia and some other countries) 
  70. - ETSI, British Telecom, CCA (United Kingdom) 
  71. - Russian ANI (Russia, some other European countries) 
  72. - DTMF (some European countries) - Finland, Norway, Sweden etc.

  80. Advanced Call Center has been tested and is compliant with these
  81. modems:

  84. - IDC (IS-101 and Rockwell, latter through Rockwell driver)

  87. - Russian Courier (AVC) 
  88. - Texas Instruments (TI) based Voice modems (GSM - capable) 
  89. - USRobotics (3COM) Courier 
  90. - USRobotics (3COM) Sportster Vi

  92. - Windows modems including Lucent (AT&T) LT, Cirrus Logic

  98. 4)  Install

  101. If you are upgrading from ACID2000 1.7 BETA or any prior release,
  102. please delete the previous release from your computer before installing
  103. this one. Otherwise some older files will remain in the ACID2000
  104. folder.

  106. To install, run the file you just downloaded and follow the
  107. instructions.

  109. After files are installed and you run the program for the first time,
  110. you will be prompted for COM port number, modem name (or chipset
  111. manufacturer) and type of Caller ID you will use.

  115. 5)  Un-install

  118. To uninstall, exit the program and run 'Uninstall' from the Windows
  119. Start menu. After than you may need to manually remove your settings
  120. and wave files you recorded; they reside in the folder where ACC was
  121. installed.

  128. Further information and documentation is in aon32.chm file, an MS
  129. Compressed HTML file. If you cannot start this file, you probably don't 
  130. have MS Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. In that case you should either 
  131. install Internet Explorer or download the special help file version for 
  132. non-IE browsers (it will use Java applet to display itself). In the 
  133. second case there will not be any context help available - only 
  134. documentation in HTML files.

  151. You are allowed to use a free version of the program for as long
  152. as you wish in exchange for viewing advertisements placed within
  153. the software.

  155. You have the option to pay a registration fee, and, in exchange,
  156. receive a license key, unlocking the program into a fully functional
  157. version without advertising.

  160.    Limitations
  161.  
  162. An unregistered version does not allow you to hide the main window
  163. on startup - if you want the program to go in tray, you have to
  164. close this window by hand. There is no such limitation in the registered
  165. version.
  166. In an unregistered version you are limited with 3 identities. In the 
  167. registered version you can maintain unlimited number of identities.

  174. The program is freely distributable unless it is not modified in any 
  175. way, all files are preserved and you do not distribute your 
  176. registration license.
