one after another)
4. Run in system tray
5. Many other features - write me if you have suggestions
The following items in "Mass Downloader 1.0 Build 04 Release notes"
are either fixed or implemented: 5, 6, 7, 8.
Mass Downloader 1.0 Build 04 Release notes.
1. Please don't think that it is the real software. No.
I wrote Mass Downloader just to test my idea on how
to make downloads faster. It is not a release version,
just a test. I will need your notes to determine with
actual future of this utility. If I receive a lot of
positive replies, I will continue developing, otherwise,
I will just drop the project.
2. Mass Downloader 1.0 could be used only for downloading
files from Web servers, no FTP servers are currently supported.
I plan to include FTP support, say in 1.1 version.
3. To increase download speed, it creates several connections to
the server. This will not work with servers, which doesn't
support HTTP 1.1 Reget feature.
4. To start a new download, you should choose File|New, fill the
URL field and set Block size to a number, which is LESS than the
file length. You may receive a corrupted file, if the Block Size
is bigger than the file size. It is a BUG and I will correct it later.
The "Save to file" field is self-explaining. Please don't use any
drives/paths with it. Press OK and Start downloading.
5. Every file will be saved to the c:\ location. Please don't use the file
until Mass Downloader will show "Done" in the Status.
6. Number of threads means nothing currently. Not implemented yet.
7. No proxy is currently supported. Sorry. I will add it later.
HTTP Redirect is not supported.
8. !!! Please don't start two or more downloads at once. You may receive
an error message and Mass Downloader will close. Wait until a file
will be downloaded and only then start a new one.
9. Since the Mass Downloader future is undetermined, I would like to hear
your comments about the program. Please write me does it really downloads
files faster than other programs. Please mail me your comments to:
arny@saransk.sitek.net
Please put "Mass Downloader 1.0 Build 04" into the subject line.
An easiest way to write a letter to me is to open About box (Help|About)
and press mouse button on the E-mail address link.
10. You may always find Mass Downloader news, updates on my Web sites:
