  1. The escape wheel is all in one plane
  2. At A the escape wheel tooth is just
  3. entering the cylinder giving a clockwise
  4. impulse to balance. At B the impulse
  5. is finished and the tooth point rides
  6. on the inside of the cylinder and a
  7. slight counter-clockwise impulse is
  8. given. At D the tooth has escaped and
  9. a succeeding tooth will fall on, and
  10. ride on, the outside of the cylinder.
