  2. wheel is all in one plane. At A the escape
  3. wheel tooth is just entering the cylinder
  4. giving a clockwise impulse to balance. At
  5. B the impulse is finished and the tooth
  6. point rides on the inside of the cylinder
  7. and a slight counter-clockwise impulse is
  8. given. At D the tooth has escaped and a
  9. succeeding tooth will fall on, and ride
  10. on, the outside of the cylinder.
