  4. Last minute information for ChemPen3D version 1.20
  5.  
  6. Special Considerations for Microsoft Windows 95 Users
  7.  
  8. ChemPen 3D is a Windows 3.1 program but will install and
  9. run under Windows 95. However:
  10.  
  11. 1. ChemPen 3D does not implement Windows 95 specific features
  12.    such as long filenames or multithreading.
  13.  
  14. 2. ChemPen 3D does not edit the Windows 95 registry. ChemPen CHP
  15.    files must be associated with ChemPen by the user.
  16.  
  17. 3. At the end of installation, under Windows 95 there is a delay
  18.    that can last up to a minute on slower machines and which
  19.    causes the computer to appear locked. Wait for the installation
  20.    to complete as indicated by the Installation successful
  21.    message box.

  24. INSTALLATION
  25.  
  26. Windows 3.x
  27. 1. Make a backup copy of the ChemPen3D Disk
  28. 2. Insert the disk into floppy drive A:
  29. 3. Run the File Manager
  30. 4. Select File | Run ... and in the text box type A: Install and type Enter
  31. 5. Wait until you are prompted for the Installation Complete Message
  32.  
  33. Windows 95
  34. 1. Make a backup copy of the ChemPen3D Disk
  35. 2. Insert the disk into floppy drive A:
  36. 3. Double Click the 'My Computer' Icon 
  37. 4. Double Click the Floppy Disk Icon
  38. 5. Double Click Install.exe
  39. 6. Wait until you are prompted for the Installation Complete Message.

  43. New keyboard shortcuts:

  45. The following keys change the nearest atom to the mouse pointer
  46. to the corresponding atom:
  47.  
  48.     H hydrogen    
  49.     C carbon        
  50.     O oxygen
  51.     S sulfur        
  52.     N nitrogen
  53.     F fluorine    
  54.     X chlorine
  55.     Y bromine        
  56.     I iodine
  57.     Z selenium    
  58.     Q silicon
  59.     B boron
  60.  
  61.     Delete -  deletes the nearest atom
  62.  
  63. The bond nearest to the mouse pointer can be edited by the following keys
  64.  
  65.     1 - changes a bond to a single bond
  66.     2 - changes bond to a double bond
  67.     3 - changes bond to a triple bond
  68.     4 or R - changes bond to a resonance double bond
  69.     5 or T - changes bond to a transition single bond    
  70.  
  71.     K     deletes a bond
  72.  
  73.     L    links two atoms closest to mouse pointer. 
  74.  
  75.     A    Toggles bond between aromatic and non aromatic. This
  76.         is only useful for the internal NMR and other property
  77.         prediction routines. The Bond is highlighted in blue when
  78.         toggled to aromatic.
