IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
This is an image of History being made.
Louis Bleriot and his IX Monoplane earned their place in history by crossing the
English Channel on 25 July 1909.
Flying at less than 40 mph, Bleriot only just managed to make the 22 mile
crossing because a fortunate shower of rain cooled his overheating 25 hp Anzani
engine.
The achievement is remembered alongside the Wright Brothers, and, much later,
Charles Lindbergh.
DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:
All new, all hand coded in PovRay.
Mostly CSG. The monoplane is as accurate as could be done from small three view
drawings and a couple of photos. The pilot exists only from the waist up, but
950f the 'plane is there.
