  2.                     INSTALLING COELI - STELLA 2000

  5.      Before you do anything else, place your mouse-pointer over the
  6.      time readout in your System Tray and make sure your PC's clock
  7.       is showing today's date. If not, you will need to double click
  8.      and set it before attempting to install this Coeli product.
  9.

  11.      Have you tried a previous version of Stella?
  12.      --------------------------------------------
  13.      Don't worry! - Unlike most other astronomy programs in the 
  14.      marketplace, Stella always allows you to evaluate the newest 
  15.          version. There is no one-time shut-out in operation here. 
  16.          So please go ahead and install in the confidence that you 
  17.          will not be hindered in your assessment of this copy's 
  18.          enhanced capabilities.

  21.          Windows automatic installation
  22.          ------------------------------

  24.          Your Stella package is installed simply by double clicking on
  25.          the file SETUP.EXE once you have unzipped the contents of
  26.          Stella.zip to a folder of your choosing.

  28.          We recommend the excellent WinZip utility for unpacking
  29.          Stella's main .zip archive. You can get the latest version
  30.          of Winzip from

  34.          If you have not already done so, we would additionally
  35.          recommend that, prior to running SETUP.EXE, you use Explorer
  36.          to create a new folder called Astronomy inside the Windows 95
  37.          Start Menu folder. Just navigate to Windows\Start Menu and
  38.          click with the right mouse button on some unoccupied space in
  39.          Explorer's right-hand window. You'll see a popup menu, one of
  40.          whose options will be |New|. Select |Folder| from the submenu,
  41.          and name it 'Astronomy' or some other appropriate title. After
  42.          setup, you will be able to manually move the shortcut named
  43.          Stella 2000 into this new folder for a tidier and more compact
  44.          Start menu.

  46.          Tip: when in doubt about the Win95 Explorer's file-listing,
  47.          just press [F5] to refresh its display. Very often, an item you
  48.          thought wasn't there will magically appear!
  49.  
  50.          NB: IF INSTALLING OVER A PRIOR VERSION OF STELLA (WHETHER
  51.          TRIAL OR REGISTERED), FIRST COPY ANY OBSERVATION LOG FILES
  52.          (.STL) TO A SAFE PLACE BEFORE PROCEDING WITH THE REMOVAL OF
  53.          THE OLD VERSION VIA THE CONTROL PANEL.

  55.          WHEN YOU HAVE REMOVED THE OLD INSTALLATION, YOU MAY THEN
  56.          CONFIDENTLY PROCEED WITH THE SETUP OF THE NEW VERSION OF
  57.          STELLA 2000, FINALLY COPYING BACK THE LOG FILES WHEN THIS HAS
  58.          COMPLETED TO YOUR SATISFACTION.

  60.          THE SETUP UTILITY LEAVES ALL PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED FILES OF THE
  61.          SAME NAME INTACT, SO WITHOUT FIRST REMOVING THE LAST
  62.          INSTALLATION, A NEW COPY OF THE PACKAGE CANNOT BE INSTALLED.

  64.          Stella may be uninstalled at any time simply by opening
  65.          Control Panel from the Settings entry in your Start Menu, and
  66.          double- clicking on the item Add/Remove Programs. You will be
  67.          shown a list of programs currently installed on your system,
  68.          from which you should select the item 'Stella 2000' for
  69.          automatic removal.

  71.          The complete Stella 2000 package contains a number of text
  72.          files, all designed to help you get started with the minimum
  73.          of fuss. Have a browse through any item with the .TXT or .RTF
  74.          extension if you've the time. Some of these will necessitate
  75.          the selection of |Word Wrap| in Notepad or whichever text
  76.          editor you elect to view them in.
