WinJar Frequently asked Questions (FAQ)
Questions in no particular order
Q. What programming language do you use to make WinJar ?
A. Versions <= 2.1 where made in Borland C++ Builder 1.0 standard
Version 2.2 is made in C++Builder 3.0
Q. What kind of system/computer do you use to make WinJar ?
A. Pentium II 266 Mhz. IBM Deskstar 8.5 GB and Fujitsu 4 GB.
iiyama A701 GT monitor (iiyama rules). Operating systems:
Linux red hat 5.1 (not used for WinJar :)), Window '98 and
Windows NT 4.0 Server (SP4).
Q. I saw this feature in some program, can you implement this in
WinJar ?
A. Probably not. Suggestions are welcome, but any major changes will
not be made. I much rather get reports of bugs/errors which help
to make the program more stable, then suggestions for features
which will make the program bigger or more unstable.
If you really think you have a usefull suggestions can you can
e-mail it.
Q. Can you tell me something yourself ?
A. No.
Q. I'm a programmer myself could I have the source code of WinJar ?
A. No. I spend a lot of time making the program and I won't give it
away, but if there are any parts of WinJar you want explained I
will be glad to help you.
Q. Have does WinJar work ?
A. That's a long story. Too long. Basicly: WinJar starts jar32 and tries
to understand the result values and/or output.
Q. I use WinRAR and like the interface, can't you make WinJar look like that ?
A. No. I used the WinZip interface as a basis for WinJar and not WinRar.
I really don't like the way WinRar works, btw.
If you really want a jar program which looks like WinRar, then get
the program called Jarwin (search the net for it).
Q. I saw this program called WinJar on a internet site in Denmark, is this
yours ?
A. No. Someone accidently choose the same name, he has already changed it
to something else (Website might be still unchanged)
Q. Can I have an earlier version of WinJar ?
A. Why ? No really, why ?
Q. I have some money left, can I send it to you ?
A. Yes. I'm just a poor student and can always you some money :)
Send it in an envelope to my address (seen in the Aboutbox and license.txt)
Q. I'm really good at making cool icons, do you want me to make any ?
A. Yes, please. I need 16x16 and 32x32 icons for most functions.
