  3.   AxMan is a Win95/98/WinNT application that can split any file into pieces.

  5.   AxMan takes care of all of the overhead of cutting a file into pieces: 
  6.    - Splits the file into pieces
  7.    - Writes them anywhere you want
  8.    - Restores the file from anywhere
  9.    - Restores the file to anywhere you want

  17. IMPORTANT NOTICE
  18. ----------------
  19.   Please be aware that files split with AxMan 3.00 can only be restored
  20.   with AxMan 3.00 or future versions.  This is because it was necessary
  21.   to make an axman file format change to support file sizes greater than
  22.   4.2 Gb. AxMan 3.00 is fully backward compatible, however, and can
  23.   restore files split with any previous version.

  26. REGISTRATION
  27. ------------
  28.   AxMan costs just $15 (U.S.)* to register,  Registering AxMan entitles you to 
  29.   free bug fixes, new minor releases, along with automatic notification (via 
  30.   email only) when these are available.  AxMan v3.00 has no feature limitations, 
  31.   but does implement a 30 day trial evaluation time limit. It also, includes one
  32.   of those annoying nag screens reminding you that you are using an unregistered
  33.   version.

  35.   Included with this version of AxMan, is AxManRestore, which is a restore-only
  36.   version of AxMan.  AxManRestore is considered to be a free product which you
  37.   automatically obtain the rights to, and which you may freely distribute
  38.   to others.

  93. AxMan Features 
  94. ------------
  95.   - AxMan can split any file, regardless of type, size or long filename.
  96.  
  97.   - AxMan can zip and unzip files
  98.  
  99.   - AxMan can split multiple files either as single zipped file or individually
  100.     in batch mode
  101.  
  102.   - AxMan can automatically write the split file pieces to a floppy disk. There is
  103.     no need to run AxMan and then copy the pieces to floppy disks manually.

  105.   - AxMan does not require that the disks be empty.  Unlike Microsoft Backup
  106.     and other utilities, AxMan does not require that the disks that it is
  107.     splitting the file to be empty.  Instead, AxMan will fit as much onto
  108.     each disk as it can.

  110.   - AxMan supports drag 'n drop operations

  112.   - AxMan can split to predefined sizes

  114.   - AxMan can re-create any single piece of a split set

  144.     users can restore using "copy /B" and Unix users can restore using "cat".
  145.     This option will also minimize on disk space used. AxMan can restore
  146.     this split type, however, remember, when splitting to non-AxMan format,
  147.     AxMan will not be able to verify that pieces are being put together 
  148.     in the correct order, how many pieces there are total, etc.

  159. Installation
  160. ----------------------
  161. AxMan v3.00 comes with full installation and deinstallation support. 
  162. To install AxMan, simply unzip the package (which you had to do to read this 
  163. file), and run the install.exe.  That's it! To uninstall, select Start Menu, 
  164. then Settings, then Control Panel, then add/remove Programs, then AxMan.

  296.   Please do not assume someone else will report it.  We will try to resolve
  297.   reported bugs as quickly as possible.  However, we can't resolve bugs that
  298.   are not reported.

  300.   Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible. In your

  303.      - the version of AxMan (as shown in the About dialog box)
  304.      - the error message you received (if any)

  312.   Note that if a disk that contains a ".axman" file becomes corrupt, there 
  313.   is nothing we can do to help you recover/restore the file.  Instead you
  314.   may want to check into some of the many popular disk utilities.
