The Belarc Advisor helps you to shop intelligently for add-ons or upgrades for your PC. When installed, it scans your system and develops a profile of the current configuration. Although it generates a comprehensive report that lists your hardware and software details, there is no way to retrieve a list of all available upgrades. You must visit a Belarc-compatible Website, select a possible purchase, and click the Advisor button. You then get a free report on whether the proposed product will work with your system. The program includes a list of Belarc-equipped sites. You can edit the configuration profile to whatever detail you need, including RAM types, motherboard voltages supported, various bus configurations, and more. The software does not forward configuration information to the sales site, but merely compares the purchase profile to your PC's capability. Although it doesn't provide a guarantee that all your software is up-to-date, Belarc Advisor should help take some of the guesswork out of selecting upgrades.
