SYSTEM REGISTRY - contains critical system configuration information. The Registry also stores all user preferences and settings for most applications.
INI/CFG/INF FILES- some old -style applications still store configuration within INI files. The INI filename will usually match the application name.
DOS SYSTEM FILES - store system configuration information, CD-ROM drivers etc. It is quite often that these files are modified when you install a new game or system software.
PASSWORD LISTS - store user passwords in files with .pwl extensions. You can back-up and restore user passwords without knowing the passwords themselves.

- If you left your computer unattended with a password enabled screen-saver running and somebody had reset your computer, they would still be not able to get back into to Windows(r) without entering the original screen-saver password.

Many computers will not be able to function after year 2000. This is known as the millenium bug. Set Me Up will test your computer for its year 2000 compatibility. Click the Test for Year 2000 button to do this. Set Me Up will set the date to 01.01 2000. After this, reboot your computer and open Date/Time settings in the Control Panel. If the date displayed is 01.01 2000, your hardware will handle dates after year 2000. If the date is set to anything else, it means that your computer is not Millennium Compliant. The hardware itself does not guarantee complete protection, so you may wish to test any software applications you may have. ENSURE THAT YOU RESTORE THE DATE AND TIME SETTINGS AFTER THIS TEST
