The VIDEO PLAYER included in this package is certified for Microsoft Windows 95 and may be used with ATI products based on the RAGE PRO chipset, in either PCI or AGP configurations. That includes the XPERT@WORK, XPERT@PLAY, XPERTXL and ALL-IN-WONDER PRO.
The VIDEO PLAYER bundled in the w5pl50en package is the same version as found on ATI INSTALLATION CD-ROM marked "ATI Software Release 5.00".
** THIS SOFTWARE WILL NOT WORK WITH NON 3D RAGE PRO products **
Please consider the following items before installing the ATI VIDEO PLAYER software;
1) This software includes a new setup program that installs the ATI VIDEO PLAYER. The new setup program may take a minute or more to evaluate the system registry prior to installing the driver. PLEASE BE PATIENT.
2) UN-INSTALL any previous ATI VIDEO PLAYERs. (To un-install, open the Windows CONTROL, double click ADD/REMOVE programs, select the ATI VIDEO PLAYER and click the REMOVE button.)
1 You must download w5pl50en.exe and save it to a directory on your systems hard disk. For example C:\temp is a common directory used to initially save a file into.
2 Once you have downloaded w5pl50en, close all programs, click the Start button and select the RUN menu item. Click the Browse button. Browse to the directory where w5pl50en.exe was saved. Select w5pl50en and click OK to run the program.
3 Follow the instructions on the screen.
! The ATI files will be unpacked to your hard disk AND then the ATI installer (SETUP) will be executed and the software will be installed.
If you have UNPACKED the files BUT aborted the installation and wish to complete the installation follow the instructions listed below;
1 Start Windows 95.
2 Click the Start button. Click the Run menu item. Click the Browse button. Browse to the directory where the files were unpacked after running w5pl50en. The default directory is C:\ati\support\w5pl50en
4 Select SETUP.EXE and press OK.
5 Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
If you have an ALL IN WONDER product and you can't hear the AUDIO after installing the new ATI VIDEO PLAYER software you may need to manually select the appropriate audio channel.
EXPLANATION:
In some configurations, the Audio may default to CD Audio, [internal connection] instead of Line-In [Cabled at back of System] Jumper from ATI to Sound Card.
SOLUTION:
- Ensure that the EXTERNAL audio cable is connected from the ALL IN WONDER to the LINE-IN of the sound card.
- Launch the ATI VIDEO PLAYER and select TV TUNER mode.
- Right click on the TV image and select PROPERTIES from the menu.
OR; Open the setup dialog box off the player control panel.
- In the VIDEO PLAYER SETUP, select the VIDEO TAB
- Use the Audio Input selector, in the lower right corner, to select LINE-IN.
NOTE: This problem may occur with any application that plays AVI movie clips
NOTE: This problem is known to occur with ENCARTA 95, 96 and 97.
SYMPTOM:
The video portion of ENCARTA movie clips are scrambled. The audio portion plays OK.
EXPLANATION:
The AVI files (movie clips) used in ENCARTA are encoded in an INDEO 3.2 format. The INDEO CODEC supplied with WINDOWS 95 exhibits the symptom described here. The problem does not occur with an upgraded version of the INDEO CODEC.
SOLUTION:
This problem is resolved by installing the newest version of the INDEO CODEC. The required file is "iv5play.exe" and can be downloaded from the INTEL WEB site at the following URL;
Once the file has been downloaded, click the START button select RUN and browse to the directory where you saved iv5play.exe. Select iv5play.exe and click OK.
iv5play.exe will install the newest version of the INDEO 3.2 CODEC which resolves the problem described here.
BE ADVISED, WHILE THIS VERSION WILL INSTALL AND FUNCTION WITHIN THE WINDOWS 98 ENVIRONMENT, WE MAKE NO PROMISES OR GUARANTEES TO ITS USABILITY OR ABILITY TO PERFORM TO YOUR SATISFACTION. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WHILE RUNNING THIS VERSION IN WINDOWS 98, WE STRONGLY URGE YOU TO REVERT TO THE DRIVERS BUNDLED WITH WINDOWS 98 AND REPORT ANY ISSUES TO MICROSOFT AS PER YOUR WINDOWS 98 DOCUMENTATION.
ATI TECHNICAL SUPPORT WILL NOT BE ENTERING PROBLEM REPORTS AGAINST OUR WINDOWS 95 DRIVERS IN THIS ENVIRONMENT.
