  13. - GRAPHIC DRIVER PROBLEMS (ET4000)
  14.  
  15. While WinWayout 2.00 runs without problems on many machines, we've
  16. experienced troubles with some ET-4000 graphic drivers.
  17.  
  18. WinWayout 2.00 uses backing store to create the view of the lab.
  19. After excessive resizing of the game window (which causes our program to
  20. release the backing store and request new backing store adapted to the
  21. window size), Windows stops short. We're shure this is a problem of the
  22. graphic driver an not an error in our program.

  24. We recommend you check this out on your machine by zooming/unzooming the
  25. game window for aprox. 15 times. If the problem occures, you should use
  26. another graphic driver if possible or avoid resizing the game window.

  29. - SOUNDS (SPEAKER.DRV - speaker driver)
  30.  
  31. In order to hear sounds in this game, you must install a sound-driver on
  32. your computer.
  33.  
  34. If you play the game with sound, you will notice that the effects stop the
  35. game for the time they are audible. This is due to the fact that Windows
  36. 3.1 cannot asynchronousely (this means, without holding the program)
  37. play sounds that are linked as resources. Only sounds that are stored on
  38. files can be played asynchronousely (but this is no help for FX because of
  39. the time it takes to load the file). If you hold the mouse button or key
  40. pressed while the sound is playing, the function of the button/key will be
  41. executed several times when the sound is finished. This may cause undesired
  42. effects, e.g. when using a weapon.

  44. You can enable/disable the sound effects in the Options-part of the menu.

  46. To hear the music, choose Help/About... and wait for 5 Seconds.

  48. If the music stops after a few seconds, check the "Seconds to limit playback"-
  49. parameter of your sound driver.

  51. - SPEED

  53. Due to the new graphic system, WinWayout 2.00 is less flickering but also
  54. slower than previous versions.

  56. To increase the speed of the game:

  58.  - reduce the graphic-detail-level or
  59.  - reduce the size of the window.
