(http;//avault.com)
D!ZONE 2 150
FROM THE WIZARDWORKS GROUP, INC.
****************************************************************************
Overview
D!ZONE 2 150 is a collection of great new levels for DOOM and DOOM 2
with D! 1.5. D! 1.5 features the BEST PWAD SUPPORT OF ANY DOOM SHELL.
Play ANY PWAD as ANY episode/mission. Full item/player start/floor type
randomization, superior player database. Supports all new features of
DOOM 1.666 & DOOM 2.
Getting Started
* The subdirectory \D! was just created on your hard drive. This is where
the D! shell is located.
After everything is configured correctly, all you have to do to run DOOM,
with or without a new WAD file is to type D! from within the \D!
directory, select your game options, and play!
NOTE: The registered version of DOOM 1.666 or DOOM 2 is required to run D!.

Frequently Asked Questions
* Are there other D!ZONE products?
Yes. The D!ZONE family of products includes:
The D!ZONE Collector's Edition CD-ROM. Over 900 new levels, D!, the
Ultimate Shell for DOOM and DOOM 2 as well as a collection of DOOM level
editors and other DOOM utilities.
The D!ZONE 2 Collector's Edition CD-ROM includes over 1000 new levels, D!,
the Ultimate Shell for DOOM and DOOM 2 as well as a collection of DOOM and
DOOM 2 level editors and other utilities.
D!MATCH includes 500 outstanding deathmatch levels, designed specifically
for multiplayer games.
There are also 150 level versions of each of the above titles.
* What are the system requirements of D!?
Obviously, you need a machine that is able to run DOOM and/or DOOM 2. D!
requires the registered version of DOOM 1.666 or DOOM 2 1.666 or higher.
D! will not work with the shareware release of DOOM. In addition, you
will need 550K of free conventional memory (under the 640K barrier) for D!
to launch DOOM or DOOM 2.
* How do I determine if I have enough conventional memory?
At the DOS prompt type MEM and press Enter. This will display a table showing
memory usage on your computer. Look for the line that reads Largest
Executable Program Size. If it is under 550K, you will need to free some
conventional memory by REMarking out items in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. If you
use DOS 6, you can use the Memmaker program to move TSR (terminate and stay
resident) programs, like mouse drivers, into upper memory.
In some cases, swapping to EMS can minimize run time errors. If you have EMS
memory configured, define the D! swap location on Configuration page 2.
The 640K conventional memory barrier is a limitation of DOS, which can only
address the first 640K of memory in your computer. Every program that is run
in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file or from the DOS prompt uses conventional memory.
When you run out of conventional memory you can experience out of memory
errors or runtime errors. This is critical with D!ZONE because the DOOM and
DOOM 2 game engines are incredibly memory hungry, and will not run unless
they have all the elbow room they need. Upper memory, the remaining 384K
before you reach 1MB is used for special system functions by DOS 5 and DOS 6.
The Memmaker program will move DOS and TSR programs into Upper Memory,
leaving more conventional memory available. This is the most practical way of
freeing conventional memory. Memmaker is one of the best reasons to upgrade
to DOS 6. Memory above 1MB is available either as Expanded Memory (EMS) or
Extended Memory (XMS). Memmaker can also configure your system to utilize
EMS, which D! can use as an ultrafast swap location. Utilizing EMS makes D!
slightly leaner and may allow you to launch DOOM or DOOM 2 without changing
the configuration of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Please refer to your DOS manual
for additional information on Memmaker, EMS & AUTOEXEC.BAT.
* Will D! work with the CD-ROM release of DOOM 2?
Since D! is installed to your hard disk drive, you can use D! to launch
DOOM 2 from the CD-ROM. However, since only one CD-ROM can be accessed at a
time, you will not be able to load the 150 new levels from the D!ZONE 2
CD-ROM if you are playing DOOM 2 from the CD-ROM.
* Can I use D! with the shareware version of DOOM?
No. D! requires the registered version of DOOM, available from id Software.
* Can I use D! with versions of DOOM prior to 1.666?
No. D! requires DOOM or DOOM 2 version 1.666 or higher. The upgrade to
1.666 is available through many BBS's and on-line services.
* Can I use D! with versions of DOOM or DOOM 2 higher than 1.666?
Yes.
* Can I use D! with Ultimate DOOM?
Yes. If you are using Ultimate DOOM, be sure to enter the proper directory
for DOOM on the D! Installation Menu. typically Ultimate DOOM is installed
in C:\DOOM_SE
* I have the registered version of DOOM, but D! says it can't find it.
This can occur if you have a wrong path defined in your D! Configuration or
if you have the "button" for DOOM pressed when you only have DOOM 2 (or vice
versa) installed.
A path can be wrong because of a simple typo, or you can have an invalid
path if you used the SPACEBAR to eliminate lines that pertain to a program
or component you do not have. To the computer, the SPACE is a character the
same as A or B. If you need to delete a line in the configuration, you must
either use the BACKSPACE or DELETE key to eliminate the data. Be sure to
delete the entire line including the drive letter.
Generally, DOOM will be located in C:\DOOM, Ultimate DOOM will be in
C:\DOOM_SE and DOOM 2 will be located in C:\DOOM2. Be sure you have
the proper directory for the programs on your system entered on D!
Configuration screen 1.
If you only have DOOM 2 installed on your system, make sure the button for
DOOM 2 is pressed on the D! main menu, and if you only have DOOM, make sure
that button is pressed.
* I Click Just Play, but the levels look the same as DOOM/DOOM 2!
Before you click Just Play, you need to tell D! which PWADS you wish to load.
Instructions for loading PWADS can be found in the D! Quick Start Guide
included with D!ZONE 2 150. On-line instructions for loading PWADS are
available in D! By pressing F1.
* I select Random Items but I never see any monsters.
Right click in the brackets [ ] to the right of Random Items. This will
display the item randomization screen where you can define the percentage of
every item in the game.
* D! seems to be looping or locking up.
Make sure you have not selected D!'s "Load Game" option. If you select
Load Game, you must load the same PWADS loaded in exactly the same order
as the game you saved.
Make sure you do not have a value greater than 100% for the "Random Items"
screen.
