1.1 Introduction
Welcome to the shareware version of Fatal Fumes.
Thank you for your interest for this game. As you have copied or downloaded
this free of charge vesion you have already helped us to succeed.
But your mission is not yet over. You have to copy this game to all your
friends and distribute it everywhere, so everyone could enjoy it.
This shareware version should give you a good foretaste of all you will
get when you register. If you like this game and continue playing it after
an evaluation period of 30 days we really recommend you to register.
You will get the full version of Fatal Fumes and we'll get a little fee
for our work.
1.2 What is Fatal Fumes?
Fatal Fumes is a car racing game like you have experienced never before.

-486SX or better / 486DX 50 for maximum performance
-530 kb free base memory
-1.0 Mb hard drive space
-100% VGA compatible video card

-SOUND BLASTER or compatible sound card + 2.5 Mb XMS memory
1.5 Supported operating systems
DOS : Fatal Fumes is designed to be run directly from DOS.
OS/2 Warp DOS session : Works fine when vertical retrace is set on.
Windows 3.0 / 3.1 : Seems to be slow. Try turning music off.
Windows 95 : Works in fully configured MS-DOS mode.

2. Getting started
2.1 Sound setup
Fatal Fumes supports Sound Blaster or 100% compatible sound cards.
Tested with Sound Blaster 2.01, Sound Blaster 16, GUS and GUS MAX cards.
Execute SETUP.EXE
If the setup program can't find your sound card's environment settings
it will ask IRQ, DMA channel and I/O port settings for your sound device.
2.2 Loading the game
To load Fatal Fumes run FF.EXE
In special situations you can start with following command line parameters:
/DMA : Tests the sound card's DMA speed. Use this parameter always
if the music plays in wrong speed.
/NOSOUND : Disables music.
/NOMOUSE : Disables mouse.
/WAIT : Waits for key press after the game is loaded.
/HELP : Displays the command line parameter info.
2.3 Menu controls
If you have a mouse and a mouse driver installed the default control device
is mouse. To change to keyboard control start the game with /NOMOUSE
parameter or select mouse off from options menu.
Mouse controls
Move cursor over a button you want to push and click the left mouse button.
Select the right value for a parameter (for example LAPS / OPPONENTS)
by clicking left or right mouse button.
Keyboard controls
Select button you want to push with UP and DOWN arrows and press ENTER.
Select the right value for a parameter (for example LAPS / OPPONENTS)
by pressing LEFT or RIGHT arrow.

3. Race
3.1 Driving controls
Player 1 controls
UP arrow - accelerate
DOWN arrow - brake
LEFT arrow - turn left
RIGHT arrow - turn right
TAB - change camera view
PAUSE - pause the game
ESC - abort driving
3.2 Cup modes
F1 scoring
The winner is the driver who scores highest points on selected tracks.
Scoring by place on each track:
1st 10 points
2nd 6 points
3rd 4 points
4th 3 points
5th 2 points
Total time
In this cup mode the driver with the fastest total time on selected tracks
is the winner. Notice : The maximum time one can lose on single track is
(10 + 2 * amount of laps) seconds.

4. Registering
4.1 Why should I register?
Because you love Fatal Fumes you must have some idea how much time we have
spent making it. Giving you this evaluation version totally free has been
really fair from us. Now it's your turn to be fair and send your little
donation to support our work.
As if this wasn't a reason good enough you will also receive an advanced
version of Fatal Fumes that makes your racing experience even more furious!
The registered version comes with an easy-to-use TRACK EDITOR,
over 40 TRACKS, 12 CARS, fancy NEW GRAPHICS, a TWO PLAYER GAME MODE etc.
4.2 How to register
Read the ORDERING INFO from the game menu.
4.3 Rights of a registered gamer
As a registered gamer you will HAVE RIGHT TO:
1. You may install the game on only one computer.
2. You have right to Replace a broken Fatal Fumes disk by sending it back
to us within 60 days from the day it was sent to you by us.
After the 60 day period include five U.S. dollars to cover the expences.
Note that only the first disk replacement is free and for following
replacements you MUST include five U.S. dollars.
3. You have right to copy freely any track file of Fatal Fumes.
Asking any payment for track files is strictly forbidden!
As a registered gamer you will NOT HAVE RIGHT TO:
1. As you have already familiarized yourself with the shareware version
of Fatal Fumes you do not have right to return us the registered version.
2. You may not copy, transfer or reproduce any part of Fatal Fumes or this
documentation except the backups made for your own use.
THIS MEANS THAT YOU MAY NOT GIVE AWAY OR SELL COPIES OF YOUR REGISTERED
VERSION OF FATAL FUMES. IF YOU SELL YOUR -ORIGINAL- FATAL FUMES DISK
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE FATAL FUMES ANY LONGER ON YOUR COMPUTER.

A.1 About ABAX SOFTWARE
Abax Software is a small group in Finland devoted in developing
high quality software on PC. Yet we want to keep our prices low so that
everyone can afford it.
Fatal Fumes is our first project ever to see the daylight. Its development
started in summer 1995 and even though we are launching it now in
November 1996 we shall continue developing it and making it even better!
Expect to see some major updates in the year 1997. All updates will be
