  1. Thank you for your interest in the Home Page Wizard.

  3. The Home Page Wizard is an authoring tool that makes it easy for
  4. members to create a home page on the World Wide Web (WWW) through
  5. CompuServe's Personal Home Page Service.  It offers drag-n-drop editing,
  6. templates, tips and context-sensitive help to assist members in the
  7. creation of their home page.  The Wizard also has a "TEST" button that
  8. will display the page in a browser before placing it out on the Web.

  10. When creating a new "project" in the Home Page Wizard, you will be presented
  11. with a few choices that will help you get started creating your home page.
  12. Choose one of the styles you would like to start with and fill in each of the
  13. fields.  These templates are created as starting points and can be edited or
  14. changed.  If you prefer to use your own style,  begin with a blank template
  15. and build your page from scratch.

  21.  How long will it take for my page to be "on the net"?

  23.  Moments after the publishing process, you and everyone else using WWW
  24.  (World Wide Web) will be able to access your home page.

  27.  What information am I allowed to post on my Personal Home Page?

  29.  Any content on your home page must abide by CompuServe's Operating Rules
  30.  and Service Agreement Terms.  Use of "inappropriate material" such as
  31.  profanity, pornography, illegal or copyright material on any home page,
  32.  will result in removal of your home page; and flagrant or repeated
  33.  violations may lead to termination of membership.  If you need to review
  34.  any of the Rules or Service Agreement Terms please use the GO RULES

  38.  How much does it cost to download the Home Page Wizard and setup my
  39.  Personal Home Page?

  41.  The download of the Wizard is free.  Members may also place their Personal
  42.  Home Pages online free of  charge.  Please note, standard connect time 
  43.  charges and any supplemental  network surcharges do apply during the
  44.  publishing process.

  49.  You may update your Personal Home Page as often as you feel necessary.
  50.  You will not be charged for any changes or updates made to your Web page.

  57.  CompuServe is allowing a maximum of one megabyte of storage space for
  58.  each member publishing a home page.

  61.  I've published my web page, but how do I view it?  What is the address?

  63.  During the publishing process, you are prompted for the address you would
  64.  like to use for your home page.  Be sure to write this address down so
  65.  you do not forget it.  The address that you choose for your web page, will
  66.  also pre-register your for a mail alias.  In the future, mail aliases will
  67.  allow you to use a  name instead of your User ID number for a mail address.
  68.  For example, if you choose JOE,  your web address or URL (Uniform Resource Locator)

  82.  Can I use other HTML authoring tools and HTML documents to create my home
  83.  page, or do I have to create a new page with the Wizard?

  85.  Any HTML file can be published on CompuServe by using the Publishing 
  86.  Wizard.  Be sure to include all the HTML documents and any .gif,.jpg files
  87.  that are "called" within your home page.

  92.  At this time, there is only a Windows version of the Wizard, although we
  93.  do plan to release a Macintosh version in the future.

  96.  What do the tabs on the left-hand side of the Home Page Wizard do?

  99.  The Home Page Wizard allows you to create multiple pages in your project.
  100.  This allows you to have a "theme" or style for each page.  The tabs simply
  101.  give you a way to see and access all the pages in your project.   For example:

  103.  One person may have the main page (or index) that gives a short
  104.  description about themselves and a overview of the contents on their
  105.  home page.  Then they may have a page created of their favorite hot links,
  106.  a page of their favorite restaurants, a page of their Top Ten reasons to
  107.  have a home page on CompuServe, etc. with all of them linked together with
  108.  Internal Links.  With this type of design, it is easy to keep home pages
  109.  organized and easy to follow.

  111.  How do I get assistance if I'm having difficulties with the Wizard?

  113.  The Wizard was designed with the novice user in mind.  If you run
  114.  into problems while building your Personal Home Page, please choose
  115.  the HELP pull-down menu, and you will receive context-sensitive
  116.  help that will guide you through virtually any problem you may have.

  118.  If you continue to have problems, you may receive further assistance
  119.  by using the NetLauncher Support Forum.  Please read/search the messages
  120.  that are posted in the forum, as someone may be having the same problem.
  121.  If you do not see a message that relates to your problem, post a message
  122.  to SYSOP.   When posting a message to SYSOP, please compose a clear and
  123.  concise message that states background information about your machine,
  124.  the  software and version number you are using, what problems/questions
  125.  you may have.  If you are getting any error messages, please include the
  126.  EXACT error message and the steps you used to produce the error.
