THE DAME WAS LOADED
__________________________________________________________________________
PC GAMER JANUARY 1995 E. J. O'NEILL
__________________________________________________________________________
Dames are trouble, but trouble is your business. For a dame, and maybe a
hundred bucks in advance, you'd lose a few teeth and a few friends. For
sweet Carol Klein, you might even stand in front of a gun or two. In a
sleazy world of corrupt officials, stolen diamonds, lust and murder, you
must solve the case and stay alive.
You're a Private Detective. That's your job.
WHAT IS "THE DAME WAS LOADED"?
------------------------------
"The Dame Was Loaded" is a slick, 1940s-style detective adventure game,
featuring you, Scott Anger, a world-worn private eye who doesn't miss a
trick, and a large cast of shady characters to push your interrogative
skills to the edge.
Rife with adventure, mystery and more than a few laughs, "The Dame Was
Loaded" immerses you in an engaging non-linear plot, where you must use
your wits and detective know-how to untangle the criminal web surrounding
the missing Dan Small. Gather clues, talk to people, make friends, avoid
enemies. It's a dangerous world in there, and when the action heats up and
the corpses pile up, you'd better know who to trust.
Full-screen video, 2 CDs packed with adventure, gameplay, action and
humour. The 1940s never looked so good.
WHAT IS THIS PREVIEW?
---------------------
This file, though non-playable, is a mind-blowing trip into the 1940s world
of Scott Anger, Private Investigator. It is a full-screen video sequence
introducing you to characters and themes from the game, as well as
demonstrating the VideoBeam (TM) full motion video technology used to bring
"The Dame Was Loaded" to life.
DOES MY MACHINE RUN FULL-SCREEN VIDEO?
--------------------------------------
Full-screen video only used to be possible with super-fast machines or at
the expense of frame rate or detail. With the VideoBeam demo you are about
to see, you will get:
* FULL-SCREEN VIDEO at
* 12.5 frames per second, with
* 22 Khz sound!
and this will run effortlessly THROUGH SOFTWARE on a machine with only a:
* 486DX33 processor (IBM PC or 100% Compatible)!
* SINGLE speed CD-ROM!
* Standard video card!
* 8MB RAM!
You won't believe it until you see it running. "The Dame Was Loaded"
welcomes you to the new age of FMV adventure gaming.
HOW DO I RUN THIS PREVIEW?
--------------------------
First, you'll need 16 MB free on your hard drive (though for the full game,
you'll only need 6 MB). This preview runs best under DOS, with at least a
486 DX33 and at least 4 MB of RAM.
The game will run under Windows 3.x (with at least a 486 DX2/66 and 8 MB
RAM) and under Windows 95 (with at least a Pentium and 8 MB RAM), but the
video may appear choppy or erratic when run this way. It's preferable to
shut Windows down and run this preview through clean DOS.
If all the above checks out, then run DAMEDEMO.EXE. The program will
attempt to autodetect your soundcard configuration, then run the demo. If
the autodetect fails or your machine hangs, then try running the following:
DAMEDEMO -setup
Set your configuration with the setup program provided.
Press ESC to quit the preview at any time.
WHAT SOUNDCARDS WORK WITH "THE DAME WAS LOADED"?
------------------------------------------------
This demo, and the final game, provides sound support for the following
soundcards:

Gravis Ultrasound / Max

WHEN WILL THE FULL GAME BE RELEASED?
------------------------------------
The full, 2 CD game of "The Dame Was Loaded" will be released in
Australia in November and the rest of the world in the first quarter of
1996.
WHERE CAN I GET A PLAYABLE DEMO?
--------------------------------
A one-room, fully playable demo exists, but is much too large (over 100
MB!) to download over the Internet.
It is available on Issue 4 of `The Disc', an Australian CD-ROM magazine that
uses the same full-motion-video technology as this preview.
If you are outside Australia, send a BANK CHEQUE in AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS to
the value of $25 Australian, as well as a note explaining which issue you
wish to buy, to:
Robot Madness Pty Ltd,

South Melbourne, VIC, 3205
