  13.     Welcome to SuperSpeed! This speedy miniature car racing game delivers
  14.     pure action for up to four players.
  15.     Challenge your friends or compete against the computer's drivers.
  16.     Eventful tracks with all the obstacles you usually prefer not to find
  17.     in real life driving.

  28.   The Game

  30.     Start "SUPER". After the title screen, you'll see the "PRESS BUTTON"-
  31.     screen, which will reappear before each track. Join the race with 
  32.     your fire button:

  34.        Player 1 (red car)             LEFT SHIFT KEY
  35.        Player 2 (yellow car)          RIGHT SHIFT KEY
  36.        Player 3 (green car)           JOYSTICK 1 BUTTON
  37.        Player 4 (blue car)            JOYSTICK 2 BUTTON

  39.     As soon as the helicopter leaves the screen, the next race track gets
  40.     displayed. Wait for the lights - ready - steady - go!
  41.  
  42.     Accelerate with your fire button.
  43.     Release it to brake.
  44.  
  45.     Your steering wheel looks a bit like:

  47.        red car                        Z left, X right
  48.        yellow car                     cursor left and cursor right
  49.                                       (numeric keyboard 4 and 6)
  50.        green/blue car                 joystick left and right.

  52.     On most tracks, four rounds have to be driven in one race. You'll see
  53.     your current number of laps any time you complete one.
  54.  
  55.     Aim of the game: reach the finish line before one of the computer's
  56.     drivers does. If you compete against three other human opponents, there
  57.     are no computer drivers; you'll have to beat a qualification time then.
  58.     It's like it always is - some guys get all the points, and some will
  59.     see a large "game over" again and again.
  60.     Don't panic, you may join in again as the next race track begins.

  62.     Race Tracks
  63.  
  64.     The Shareware Edition includes three, the Deluxe Edition nine great
  65.     race tracks, every single one challenging the driver's skills in a
  66.     different way. Sometimes roads are wide and curves gentle, sometimes
  67.     you must fight arduosly for your way through narrow passages, and
  68.     getting out of a tunnel can become times trickier than entering one.

  70.     Extras
  71.  
  72.     You'll find a wrench or a 1000-points bonus on the track from time to
  73.     time. Collect four wrenches to enhance your car:
  74.  
  75.         ACCELERATION      get going faster
  76.         TRACTION          get around those curves at top speed, too
  77.         SPEED             higher top speed
  78.         +4000 Pts         in case you are satisfied with your "equipment"
  79.                           so far, take some points for your wrenches.

  81.     The Bonus-FillUp level of the Deluxe Edition reveals a key sometimes. 
  82.     Collect this to open the gate to the gas station - a flashing bonus sign
  83.     is there. The driver getting there first receives a 1000 points bonus
  84.     and unlocks one of the three secret bonus races. All players compete 
  85.     in the bonus race after the current track.

  87.     Secret Bonus Race (Deluxe Edition only)

  89.     Reach the MEGA-WRENCH, before the countdown score runs down.
  90.     Be alert! Something seems unusual with these bonus tracks...

  92.     Obstacles
  93.  
  94.     So far, so good. And much too easy for you. So here are some nicely
  95.     unpleasant obstacles adding some flavor to the race:

  98.         puddles           water slows you down a bit, and sliding fun
  99.                           hides in oil patches, sand and ice
  100.  
  101.         cones             hit 'em hard, and they'll vanish
  102.     
  103.         whirlwind         minding it's own business, as long as you
  104.                           don't get close
  105.  
  106.         gates             closing regularly, opening, too, although
  107.                           you'll find that hard to admit.
  108.                           when open, they provide a nice shortcut
  109.  
  110.         skulls            oh-oh. Don't disturb the ghosts of ancient
  111.                           SuperSpeed heroes and their peaceful rest in
  112.                           highscore tables. don't, or they'll send
  113.                           Mr.BadGuy straight from hell
  114.                           hang on, wasn't there a smile some seconds ago?

  116.         blockers          oops, something's growing out of the street.
  117.                           ah, and it's going back. and comes. and goes.
  118.                           obviously can't decide - can you?

  121.     Highscores
  122.  
  123.     SuperSpeed has two highscore tables. One holds the 30 best SuperSpeeders
  124.     of all time, the other keeps track records for each course.
  125.     Can you beat the existing times and scores ?
  126.     Enter your name there after the race.

  131.     The game can be paused by pressing P at any time.
  132.     Sound on/off switch is S.
  133.     Quit playing with Q.
  134.     Press F1 in "PRESS BUTTON" screen for instructions
