  4. This README file lists the program files included with
  5. WordPerfect for Windows (WPWin) version 6.1.
  6.  
  7. PROGRAM FILES
  8. =============
  9. The file groups listed below are those used by the setup program,
  10. SETUP.EXE, on your WordPerfect diskettes or CD-ROM.  To see the
  11. list of file groups while running the setup program, choose
  12. Install, choose Custom, then choose Files.  The file groups are
  13. listed in the Selections column of the Custom Installation:
  14. WordPerfect, Custom Installation: Shared Components, and Custom
  15. Installation: PerfectFit Components dialog boxes.
  16.  
  17. The directories listed in parentheses below, such as
  18. C:\OFFICE\WPWIN, are for a new, standard installation. Your files
  19. may be located in different directories if you have performed a
  20. custom installation or if you are upgrading from WordPerfect 6.0
  21. or 6.0a for Windows.
  22.  
  23. xx   In the filenames listed below, xx represents the two-letter
  24.      language code for your version of WordPerfect, such as
  25.      UK for English United Kingdom.
  26.  
  27. *    In the lists below, an asterisk in parentheses (*) to the
  28.      right of a filename means that the file is essential to
  29.      WordPerfect operation or is included in the minimum
  30.      installation.  Keep in mind, though, that some files that
  31.      are not essential to WordPerfect operation are essential to
  32.      the operation of a specific feature, such as Spell Checker,
  33.      Grammatik, or QuickFinder.  Read the description under a
  34.      filename to determine the function of that file.
  35.  
  36. WordPerfect Program
  37. -------------------
  38. Unless noted otherwise, the files in this group are installed in
  39. the WordPerfect directory (C:\OFFICE\WPWIN).
  40.  
  41. CHARACTR.DOC
  42. This file lists the names of the characters in the WordPerfect
  43. character sets.  Print this file as you would any other document. 
  44. It is installed in the PerfectFit Components directory
  45. (C:\OFFICE\SHARED\WPC20).
  46.  
  47. CHARMAP.WPD
  48. This file contains all of the characters in the WordPerfect
  49. character sets.  Print this file as you would any other document. 
  50. It is installed in the PerfectFit Components directory
  51. (C:\OFFICE\SHARED\WPC20).
  52.  
  53. INSTALL.DAT
  54. This is a resource file used by WPINST.EXE.
  55.  
  56. MCVT*.*
  57. These files are used to convert WordPerfect 5.2 macros to
  58. WordPerfect 6.0 macros.  MCVTWIN.DLL and MCVT52.DAT are installed
  59. in the PerfectFit Components directory (C:\OFFICE\SHARED\WPC20),
  60. and MCVTWIN.WCM is installed in the Macro Files directory
  61. (C:\OFFICE\WPWIN\MACROS).
  62.  
  63. PRINTST.WPD
  64. This is the printer test file.  When printed, this file shows the
  65. graphics and scalable font capabilities of WordPerfect 6.1 for
  66. Windows.  It is installed in the PerfectFit Components directory
  67. (C:\OFFICE\SHARED\WPC20).
  68.  
  69. README.LCN
  70. This is a copy of the Software License Agreement.
  71.  
  72. SAMPLE.WPD (*)
  73. This sample document is used in A Quick Tour of WordPerfect in
  74. the WPWin 6.1 User's Guide.  It is installed in the WP Documents
  75. Path directory (C:\OFFICE\WPWIN\WPDOCS).
  76.  
  77. SETUP.EXE
  78. This file starts the WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows setup program
  79. (WPINST.EXE).  To run the setup program, insert the Setup
  80. diskette into a disk drive (such as A:), choose Run from the
  81. Windows Program Manager File menu, type a:setup, then choose OK.
  82.  
  83. WPWP61xx.WPT (*)
  84. This file is the default template used by WordPerfect for
  85. Windows.  See New in the WPWin 6.1 User's Guide.  It is installed
  86. in the Template Files directory (C:\OFFICE\WPWIN\TEMPLATE).

  88. TOURGMK.WPD (*)
  89. This sample document contains examples for Grammatik.  It is
  90. installed in the WP Documents Path directory
  91. (C:\OFFICE\WPWIN\WPDOCS).

  93. VSHARE.386 (*)
  94. This file is required for OLE version 2.0.  It is installed in
  95. the Windows System directory (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM).

  97. WP.LRS (*)
  98. This is the WordPerfect Language Resource file.  See Language
  99. Resource File in the WPWin 6.1 User's Guide.
  100.  
  101. WP_DISKS.DAT
  102. This is a resource file used by WPINST.EXE.
  103.  
  104. WPBB61xx.DLL (*)
  105. This resource file is required to display graphics (icons) on the
  106. Toolbar and Power Bar.

  109. This file is used to translate font names from WordPerfect
  110. printer drivers to Windows printer drivers.

  113. This file is a Windows printer driver that is required to print
  114. with WordPerfect .PRS files.  It is installed in the Windows

  121. This is the main program file for the WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows

  173. Files ending with .WCM are predefined WordPerfect macros that can

  176. information about playing or editing macros, see Macros in the
  177. WPWin 6.1 User's Guide.  For a description of each of the macros

  181. This file is the Upgrade Expert.  For information about using the
  182. Upgrade Expert, see Help in the WPWin 6.1 User's Guide.

  186. WPMH61xx.HLP
  187. This is the online macros manual.  It contains information about
  188. each of the programming commands, product commands, and system
  189. variables in WPWin 6.1.  This file is available only with a
  190. custom installation and is installed in the WordPerfect directory
  191. (C:\OFFICE\WPWIN).  This file requires approximately 1.8M of disk
  192. space.  See Macro Help earlier in this README file for more
  193. information.

  197. Unless noted otherwise, these files are installed in the Template
  198. Files directory (C:\OFFICE\WPWIN\TEMPLATE).

  201. Files ending with .WPD that are installed with the template files
  202. are blocks of standard correspondence text that you can insert
  203. into the letter templates, Document Experts, or other documents.

  271. Files ending with .WCH are the online Coaches.  They are

  276. BIKEMEMO.
  277. This file is used with the *.TUT files.  It is installed in the
  278. WordPerfect directory (C:\OFFICE\WPWIN).

  281. This file is required for the Document Expert templates.  It is
  282. installed in the PerfectFit Components directory
  283. (C:\OFFICE\SHARED\WPC20).

  286. This file is required by the Coaches feature.  It is installed in

  318. This file is required for the TextArt feature.

  321. This is the main program file for the TextArt feature.  See

  400. installation, this new version is installed to enable the Send
  401. feature to work with GroupWise.  The file is installed in the

  405. This file is the Macro conversion utility.  It aids in converting
  406. macros created in WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS into WordPerfect for

  424. OLE2PROX.DLL are required for OLE version 2.0.  They are
  425. installed in the Windows System directory (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM).

  428. Files beginning with SH and ending with .DLL contain part of the
  429. WordPerfect program code.  They also contain code that is used by
  430. other programs in the PerfectOffice suite.  SHWIND20.DLL is
  431. installed in the Windows System directory (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM);
  432. all others are installed in the PerfectFit Components directory
  433. (C:\OFFICE\SHARED\WPC20).

  436. This file is required for OLE version 2.0.  It is installed in

  440. This file is required for OLE version 2.0.  It is installed in

  444. This file, like the VW*.DLL files below, is used with the Viewer
  445. feature.

  447. VW*.DLL (*)
  448. Files beginning with VW and ending with .DLL are used with the
  449. Viewer feature to enhance the viewing of particular types of
  450. documents.  See Viewer in the WPWin 6.1 User's Guide.

  452. WP*.FOT (*)
  453. Files beginning with WP and ending with .FOT are resource files
  454. created by Windows when it installs the WP*.TTF files.  These
  455. files are created in the Bitstream TrueType Fonts directory
  456. (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM).

  458. WP*.TTF (*)
  459. Files beginning with WP and ending with .TTF are TrueType font
  460. files required for the WordPerfect character sets.  These files
  461. are installed in the Bitstream TrueType Fonts directory
  462. (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM).

  464. WPBT61.EXE (*)
  465. This file is reserved for use by Customer Services personnel.
  466.  
  467. WPDE20xx.DLL (*)
  468. This file is the Macro Dialog Editor.  See the online macros
  469. manual.

  471. WPEX*.DLL (*)
  472. The files WPEX61xx.DLL and WPEX20.DLL are required for Document
  473. Expert templates.

  475. WPSH20xx.DLL (*)
  476. This file is the shared code resource file, used with the SH*.DLL
  477. files.

  479. WPVW20xx.DLL (*)
  480. This file is a resource file required by the Viewer feature.  See

  484. This file contains the predefined label definitions used with the

  488. This resource file is used when you edit macros.

  491. The files WTCC60EN.DLL and WTCC60XX.DLL are required to operate
  492. the Spell Checker, Hyphenation, and Thesaurus features.  They are
  493. also required to select sentences or paragraphs, and to switch
  494. selected text to lowercase.

  496. WTSPELxx.QCS (*)
  497. This file is required for the Spell Checker.  It is installed in
  498. the Windows directory (C:\WINDOWS).

  501. This file is required for the QuickCorrect feature. See

  747. The files OLE2.REG and OLE2AUTO.REG are required for OLE version
  748. 2.0.  They are installed in the Windows System directory
  749. (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM).

  752. This file tells WordPerfect where to find your personal .BIF file
  753. (see WPCSET.BIF below).  It may contain other information
  754. required by WordPerfect shared programs.  The file is created in

  758. This is the Windows registration file for TextArt.  It is

  780. WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows.

  790. WordPerfect Printer Drivers
  791. ---------------------------
  792. To install WordPerfect printer drivers, run the setup program,
  793. choose Install, choose Options, then choose Printers.  See Print:

  795. WordPerfect printer drivers.

  797. These files are installed in the PerfectFit Components directory
  798. (C:\OFFICE\SHARED\WPC20).

  801. Files ending with .ALL are printer files containing information
  802. for many WordPerfect printer drivers.  When you select a
  803. WordPerfect printer, a .PRS file, which contains information
  804. specific to a single printer, is created from the information in
  805. the .ALL file.  .ALL files are installed only if you select
  806. WordPerfect printer drivers when you are running the setup
  807. program.  .PRS files are created the first time you start WPWin
  808. 6.1 (for printers selected during setup) or when you add a
  809. WordPerfect printer.  See Print: Add Printer in the WPWin 6.1
  810. User's Guide.

  812. EHANDLER.PS
  813. This file is installed when you select a PostScript WordPerfect
  814. printer during setup.  It is furnished to simplify
  815. troubleshooting on PostScript printers.  You are not required to
  816. use this file.  To use the file, copy it to your printer from
  817. DOS.  See your DOS manual for instructions.

  819. TIMEOUT.PS
  820. This file is installed when you select a PostScript WordPerfect
  821. printer during setup.  It sets the wait timeout to infinite so
  822. that the printer will not output an unnecessary formfeed before a
  823. print job is completed.  To use the file, copy it to your printer
  824. from DOS.  See your DOS manual for instructions.

  826. WPCO03N_.PFB
  827. This file is installed when you select a PostScript printer
  828. during the installation.  It contains the WordPerfect Line Draw
  829. font.
