  20. 1    Notes for GroupWise Quicklook
  21. =================================================================
  22. The Quicklook that ships with the PerfectOffice suite is intended
  23. to be a demo version only of the functionality between GroupWise
  24. and the other suite products.
  25. The Quicklook can be used as a client on a real post office, but
  26. it is not recommended.  Some features are not available with
  27. the Quicklook.  Installing the Quicklook version over an existing
  28. client version may not produce good results.  Print Calendar and
  29. file viewing may not work as well as the regular GroupWise client.
  30. If the Quicklook is installed over an existing version of
  31. GroupWise, the post office may prompt the user to update to the
  32. version on the post office.  To prevent this update dialog, use
  33. REGEDIT /V and set the version number under WPOFFICE40 to 12.

  38. SHARED PROGRAM FILES
  39. ===========================
  40. GroupWise ships with version 2.3 of the Shared Program Files.

  42. The Shared Program Files add the following enhancements to
  43. GroupWise:
  44.      New Control 3D look on dialogs and windows.
  45.  
  46.      New button bar look.
  47.  
  48.      Dialog editor for macros.
  49.  
  50. ODMA
  51. ===========================
  52. Groupwise now integrates with the ODMA document management API
  53. specification.  With this integration, files can be saved and
  54. retrieved from a document management system from within
  55. Groupwise.  A BIF setting has been added to control whether to
  56. always use the document management system as a default, or to
  57. first display the regular file open/save dialogs.  This setting
  58. can be changed from a Destination menu in the Save dialog if the
  59. ODMA dialog is present.  (DMSRestrict=TRUE/FALSE) A TRUE setting
  60. will bring up the document management system in place of File
  61. Open/Save dialogs.  A FALSE setting brings up the Open/Save
  62. dialogs with a DocMgr button to get to the document manager.

  65. QUICKCORRECT
  66. ===========================
  67. QuickCorrect now uses a common datafile with other PerfectOffice
  68. applications using speller and QuickCorrect.

  70. UNC PATHNAMES

  72. The /WPC switch now accepts UNC pathnames.

  74. SORTING OPTIONS

  76. Sorting options in item list controls (inbox, outbox) is now
  77. sticky.

  96. GroupWise includes several Coaches to guide you through the more

  99. SIMPLE MAPI

  101. GroupWise now includes support for Simple MAPI.

  103. SHELF ICON PROPERTIES
  104. ===========================
  105. You can now include command line variables and the working
  106. directory in the Shelf Icon Properties for applications you place
  107. on the Shelf.

  109. PASSWORD FOR ROUTED ITEMS
  110. ===========================
  111. You can now require recipients of a routed item to type their
  112. mailbox password before completing and sending on a routed item.

  114. DELETING A FOLDER
  115. ==========================
  116. When you delete a folder from your folder list, GroupWise now
  117. displays the number of items and folders that will be deleted
  118. when you delete the folder.

  120. .INI FILES
  121. ==========================
  122. GroupWise no longer uses .INI files to store initialization
  123. information.  GroupWise now use a .BIF file (WPCSET.BIF) to
  124. record your initialization information.  WPCSET.BIF records the
  125. initialization information for GroupWise.

  127. Note--If you use the /nt startup switch to specify the network
  128. type, GroupWise creates a new .BIF file with a new filename.

  130. STARTUP OPTIONS
  131. ==========================
  132. The startup option /lang-xx has been changed to /l-xx.
  133. The startup option /@n has been changed to /la.
  134. The startup option /bl (bypass logo) has been added.

  136. WINDOWS FOR WORKGROUPS
  137. ==========================
  138. If you are using Windows for Workgroups and are having a
  139. difficult time logging in, have your system administrator change
  140. your Windows for Workgroups login ID to match your GroupWise
  141. Network ID as defined in the GroupWise Administration program.

  144. 4    CORRECTIONS TO DOCUMENTATION FOR GROUPWISE 4.1

  147. RETRACTING NOTES
  148. ==========================
  149. Formerly, retracting a note was similar to retracting a mail
  150. message; you could only retract it if the recipient had not yet
  151. opened it.  Retracting a note is now like retracting an
  152. appointment or a task; you can delete it from the recipient's
  153. mailbox whether the recipient has opened it or not.

  156. 5    GROUPWISE 4.1 REMOTE CHANGES

  159. ADDRESS BOOK
  160. ==========================
  161. You can sort the Address Book by first name or last name.  This
  162. is available only in GroupWise Remote.
  163.  
  164. ADDITIONAL .BIF SETTINGS
  165. ==========================
  166. You can add the Database Rebuilds section to the WPOffice Group
  167. to have GroupWise verify the integrity of and correct any
  168. problems with your remote mailbox when you start GroupWise
  169. Remote.  After GroupWise Remote has successfully rebuilt the
  170. mailbox specified in the values, the Database Rebuilds section
  171. is completely removed from the .BIF file.
  172.  
  173. To rebuild your remote mailbox database,
  174.  
  175. 1    Start the BIF Editor, then open your private .BIF file.
  176.  
  177. 2    Select the WPOffice folder, then choose Insert.
  178.  
  179. 3    Type "Database Rebuilds" without the quotation marks in the
  180.      Section field.
  181.  
  182. 4    Type the path to the database including the ROFDATA
  183.      subdirectory in the Item field.
  184.  
  185. 5    Select the Boolean for the value.
  186.  
  187. 6    Choose True to check and repair the structure of the
  188.      database or False to check and repair the contents in the
  189.      database.
  190.  
  191. 7    Choose OK, then choose Close.
  192.  
  193. 8    Start GroupWise Remote to check and rebuild the database.
